Biological microenvironment plays a momentous role in the regulation of various vital activities, and its abnormal changes are often closely related to some diseases. Viscosity, as an indispensable part of microenvironment parameters, has always been one of the research hotspots of investigators. Herein, we constructed a new red-emitting fluorescent probe (HVM) to identify the abnormal situation of mitochondria through viscosity changes in the biological microenvironment. Interestingly, HVM has excellent optical properties such as large stokes shift (160 nm), viscosity sensitivity (195-fold), high photostability, and biochemical properties with low cytotoxicity and excellent biocompatibility. For these reasons, the novel probe could successfully be used to identify the normal and inflammatory models via viscosity changes in biological experiments. Therefore, we provided a convenient synthetic route to obtain viscosity sensor HVM with excellent application properties.

Desalination of seawater by forward osmosis is a technology potentially able to address the global water scarcity problem. The major challenge limiting its widespread practical application is the design of a draw solute that can be separated from water by an energetically efficient process and then reused for the next cycle. Recent experiments demonstrate that a promising draw solute for forward-osmosis desalination is tetrabutylphosphonium 2,4,6-trimethylbenzenesulfonate ([P][TMBS]).

This research explores how varying proportions of virgin polyethylene terephthalate (vPET) and recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) in vPET-rPET blends, combined with preform thermal conditions during the stretch blow molding (SBM) process, influence PET bottles' microscopic characteristics. Key metrics such as viscosity, density, crystallinity, amorphous phase relaxation, and microcavitation were assessed using response surface methodology (RSM). Statistical analysis, including Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and its power, supported the interpretation of results.

The impact of temperature and light on rice quality has high research interest, but the mechanism remains unclear. Herein, six rice cultivars were planted in karst regions of Xingyi (XY, 1300 m above sea level, asl), Guiding (GD, 1100 m asl), and Huangping (HP, 684 m asl) in China. Starch molecular structures were investigated to reveal the influences of ecological conditions during grain-filling stage on rice quality.

This study aimed to investigate amylose-lipid complex (ALC) formation and starch digestibility in cooked rice starches (CRSs) with the addition of 0, 5, and 10 % emulsified formulation (EMF). The addition of EMF did not affect the content of non-starch lipids but tended to increase the content of total lipids and starch lipids. The absorption rate of 995 cm/1022 cm of CRSs increased with the addition of EMF, while that of 1047 cm/1022 cm remained unchanged regardless of the addition of EMF.
