The weak cohesive strength of tissue adhesives hinders their practical applications. To overcome this challenge, we develop a green bio-adhesive that balances both cohesion and adhesion, drawing inspiration from the natural adhesion mechanisms of mussels. This bio-adhesive, referred to as OTS, was ingeniously crafted through the co-assembly of multi-surface-charged chitin nanofibers (OAChN) and tannic acid (TA), integrated with silk fibroin (SF), resulting in a material with enhanced cohesive strength and robust adhesive properties.

We aimed to investigate whether a linear relationship exists between swimming velocity and vertical body position for each stroke phase in front crawl, and to determine whether there are differences in the velocity effect among the stroke phases. Eleven male swimmers performed a 15 m front crawl at various swimming velocities. The whole-body centre of mass (CoM) was estimated from individual digital human models using inverse kinematics.

The suspended sediment plume generated in the deep-sea mining process significantly impacts the marine environment and seabed ecosystem. Accurate boundary estimation can effectively monitor the scope of environmental impact, guiding mining operations to prevent ecological damage. In this paper, we propose a dynamic boundary estimation approach for the suspended sediment plume, leveraging the sensing capability of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs).

In recent years, wireless sensor networks have been widely used, especially in three-dimensional environments such as underwater and mountain environments. However, in harsh environments, wireless sensor networks may be damaged and split into many isolated islands. Therefore, restoring network connectivity to transmit data effectively in a timely manner is particularly important.

The separation of oil from microalgae aqueous emulsions is a critical step in producing algal-derived biofuels and nutraceuticals. This study presents the development of super hydrophilic and super oleophobic composite membranes to efficiently separate algal oil from oil/water emulsions. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were functionalized with polydopamine (PDA), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and titanium dioxide (TiO) nanoparticles and coated onto a mixed cellulose ester (MCE) substrate to fabricate the composite membranes.
