The phytochemical investigation on the leaves of Linn. led to the isolation and identification of 18 compounds, including six guavinoside (), four flavonoids (), eight triterpenoids () and one lignans (). All chemical structures were elucidated via NMR spectroscopic methods, and further supported by comparison with literature data. Compounds and was isolated from the Myrtaceae family for the first time. The chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds was also discussed based on their structure types, as well as compounds-genus/family network analysis. The results showed that there were close chemotaxonomic relationships among the Myrtaceae, Asteraceae, and Lamiaceae families. Guavinosides A-F could be considered as valuable chemotaxonomic markers of Myrtaceae family, while guavinosides C-F might serve as chemotaxonomic markers for distinguishing the .

Six previously undescribed sesquiterpenes, magnogranoides A-F (1-6), along with 10 known terpenes, were isolated from the leaves of Magnolia grandiflora L. Six previously undescribed sesquiterpene derivatives (11a-11e and 14a) were synthesized using chemical methods. Those structures were identified through extensive spectroscopic data and quantum chemical calculations.

Background: Uricase is a bio-drug used to reduce urate accumulation in gout disease. Thus, there is a continuous demand for screening soil samples derived from a variety of different sources in order to isolate a strain that possesses a high potential for producing uricase.

Methods: Streptomyces sp.

Leibniz-Institut DSMZ - German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures, Inhoffenstraße 7B, 38124 Braunschweig, Germany.

Actinomycetes are a prolific source of bioactive natural compounds many of which are used as antibiotics or other drugs. In this study we investigated the genomic and biochemical diversity of 32 actinobacterial strains that had been deposited at the DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures decades ago. Genome-based phylogeny and DNA-DNA hybridization supported the assignment of these strains to 26 novel species and two novel subspecies and a reclassification of a species.
