Speechreading-gathering speech information from talkers' faces-supports speech perception when speech acoustics are degraded. Benefitting from speechreading, however, requires listeners to visually fixate talkers during face-to-face interactions. The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that preschool-aged children allocate their eye gaze to a talker when speech acoustics are degraded.

Objective: We compared the protein structure and pathogenicity of clinically relevant variants of the gene with AlphaFold2 (AF2), Alpha Missense (AM), and ThermoMPNN for the first time.
Methods And Analysis: The sequences of clinically relevant Cog4 missense variants (one novel identified p.Y714F and three pre-existing p.

Background: Uveitis is a rare ocular adverse reaction of zoledronic acid, the specific clinical features are not clarified. This study was to investigate the clinical features of zoledronic acid-induced uveitis and provide reference for rational use of zoledronic acid.
Methods: We collected clinical data on zoledronic acid-induced uveitis for retrospective analysis by searching Chinese and English data up to October 31, 2024.

Human face categorization has been extensively studied using event-related potentials (ERPs), positing the N170 ERP component as a robust neural marker of face categorization. Recently, the fast periodic visual stimulation (FPVS) approach relying on steady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEPs) has also been used to investigate face categorization. FPVS studies consistently report strong bilateral SSVEP face categorization responses over the occipito-temporal cortex, with a right hemispheric dominance, closely mirroring the N170 scalp topography.

Purpose: Describe aims, methods, characteristics of donors, donor corneas and recipients, and potential impact of the Diabetes Endothelial Keratoplasty Study (DEKS).
Methods: The DEKS is a randomized, clinical trial to assess graft success and endothelial cell density (ECD) 1 year after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) using corneas from donors with versus without diabetes in a 1:2 minimization assignment. Diabetes severity in the donor is assessed by medical history, postmortem HbA1c, and donor skin advanced glycation end-products and oxidation markers.
