Purpose: Primarily, to evaluate the repeatability and reproducibility of the new non-contact esthesiometer (NCE) in healthy subjects. Secondarily, the corneal sensitivity threshold measurements of the NCE were compared with those of the Cochet-Bonnet esthesiometer (CBE).

Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) of the central nervous system (CNS) are rare mesenchymal tumors characterized by a fusion of the NGFI-A-binding protein 2 (NAB2) gene and the signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6) gene, immunohistochemically resulting in nuclear expression of STAT6 - an immunohistochemical hallmark essential for diagnosis, as outlined in the fifth edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Tumors. Dedifferentiation, where low-grade tumors transform into high-grade forms, has been observed in SFTs, with documented cases involving sarcomatous or rarely epithelial transformations. We report the first case of a CNS SFT exhibiting "transdedifferentiation" into epithelioid neuroendocrine differentiation.

Introduction/objectives: The primary objective was to compare the 24-h mean heart rate (HR) provided by a smart collar with 24-h ambulatory electrocardiography (Holter) in healthy dogs. The secondary objective was to compare the 2-min HR values between the two methods during periods of activity and rest.
Animals, Materials, And Methods: Twelve healthy dogs were fitted with both Holter monitors and smart collars.
A key challenge in the development of an organism is to maintain robust phenotypic outcomes in the face of perturbation. Yet, it is often unclear how such robust outcomes are encoded by developmental networks. Here, we use the Caenorhabditis elegans zygote as a model to understand sources of developmental robustness during PAR polarity-dependent asymmetric cell division.

Managing recurrent and refractory venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with cancer presents unique challenges. This review outlines the complexities and therapeutic strategies for recurrent VTE in cancer patients, which includes distinguishing thrombus acuity, differentiating between tumor and bland thrombi, and evaluating potential contributing factors including anticoagulant adherence, extrinsic tumor compression, drug interactions, and anticoagulant-specific considerations such as heparin-induced thrombocytopenia or antithrombin deficiency. Different anticoagulation strategies are discussed, including the administration of escalated-dose low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) as well as the indications and rationale for switching between direct oral anticoagulants or LMWH.
