A novel technique of cryodenervation for murine vagus nerve: implications for acute lung inflammation.

Respir Res

January 2025

Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Shanghai East Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, 200092, China.

Background: Neuroimmune interaction is an underestimated mechanism for lung diseases, and cryoablation is a competitive advantageous technique than other non-pharmacologic interventions for peripheral nerve innervating the lung. However, a lack of cryodenervation model in laboratory rodents leads to the obscure mechanisms for techniques used in clinic.

Method: Herein, we developed a novel practical method for mouse peripheral nerve cryoablation, named visualized and simple cryodenervation (VSCD).

The aim of the present study was three folds; (i) to correlate clinical case history with objective findings of a client presented with sternal discomfort along with odynophagia; (ii) to evaluate the cause for retrosternal discomfort using Functional Esophagoscopy (FE); and (iii) to reaffirm the Cook's (2008) algorithm for clinical diagnosis of esophageal dysphagia in single sitting using Transnasal Esophagoscopy (TNE). A 72 years old male (named 'G') visited a tertiary health care hospital with a complaint of imbalance for past 2 months. Also, had a complaint of pain while swallowing for the past 15 days along with left arm weakness (for past 2 days) and got admitted for treatment.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a very aggressive digestive system tumor, known for its high mortality rate, low cure rate, low survival rate and poor prognosis. In particular, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PADC), which accounts for more than 90% of PC cases, has an overall 5-year survival rate of only 5%, which is an extremely critical situation. Early detection and effective treatment of PC is extremely difficult, which leads many patients to despair.
