Objective: Effectiveness comparison of local and general magneto-therapy for determining differentiated indications in order to prescribe the techniques for early rehabilitation of patients after surgical treatment of breast cancer (BC).

Material And Methods: It was examined 114 women after radical mastectomy for breast cancer. The patients were divided into 3 groups by the method of simple randomization: the control group (37 women) received therapeutic exercises without additional prescription of physiotherapeutic procedures; 1 main group (38 women) - in addition to exercises a course of local magneto-therapy; 2 main group (39 women) - general magneto-therapy. The results were assessed using a visual analogue pain scale, goniometry results, remote infrared thermography, hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS).

Results: The inclusion of magneto-therapy in the rehabilitation complex reduced local hyperemia and edema in the area of the postoperative suture on the 7-8 day in 73.7 and 76.9% of patients of the 1 and 2 groups, respectively, while in the control group a similar result was observed by 10-14 days. Both methods of magneto-therapy eliminated temperature asymmetry and restored the normal thermographic pattern of the skin surface in the area of the surgical field, reduced the severity of pain, and increased the range of motion in the shoulder joint on the side of the operation. When studying the possibility of eliminating the manifestations of asthenic syndrome a comparison of the two studied methods showed the undoubted advantage of the general exposure to a magnetic field. In addition, it has also caused a statistically significant decrease in indicators of anxiety and depression on the HADS scale, while local exposure to a magnetic field did not have a similar effect.

Conclusion: The choice of exposure to a magnetic field at the stage of early rehabilitation of women after surgery for breast cancer is determined by the intensity of the pain syndrome, the degree of activity of aseptic inflammation in the area of the postoperative suture, the level of anxiety and depression, and the severity of asthenic syndrome.

Rationale: Bilateral gluteus medius contractures in adults are rare in clinical practice, with only a few cases reported. These contractures may result from repeated intramuscular injections during childhood. Understanding the clinical manifestations, diagnostic process, treatment, and outcomes can provide insights into effective management strategies.

Objective: The aims of this study were (i) to describe the early spontaneous movements in 3-to 5-month-old infants in groups of infants born to mothers with GDM and/or PE, (ii) to compare them, and (iii) to analyze the differences between infants with these risk factors and typically developing infants born to mothers without GDM and/or PE and other risk factors.

Methods: This cohort study included 255 infants in 4 groups: (i) 96 infants born to mothers with GDM, (ii) 78 infants born to mothers with PE, (iii) 31 infants born to mothers with GDM and PE, and (iv) 50 typically developing infants. Early spontaneous movements, including not only fidgety movements but also concurrent movement and postural patterns, were assessed using the General Movements Assessment (GMA), which determines the Motor Optimality Score-Revised (MOS-R).

Case: We report a case of coccygeal dislocation complicated by defecatory dysfunction and discuss its treatment and mechanisms. A 58-year-old man was presented with coccygeal pain and defecatory dysfunction after sustaining an injury from a 1-m fall. Following diagnosis, a combined approach involving surgical treatment and physiotherapy was adopted, resulting in early symptom improvement and favorable long-term outcomes.

Ultrasound Evaluation of Upper Limb Sublesional Muscle Morphology in Cervical Spinal Cord Injury.

Muscle Nerve

January 2025

International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (ICORD), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Introduction/aims: Upper limb paralysis is arguably the most limiting consequence of cervical spinal cord injury (cSCI). There is limited knowledge regarding the early structural changes of muscles implicated in grasp/pinch function and upper extremity nerve transfer surgeries. We evaluated: (1) muscle size and echo intensity (EI) in subacute cSCI (2-6 months) and (2) the influence of lower motor neuron (LMN) damage on these ultrasound parameters.

Purpose: This study explores the effects of anthracycline chemotherapy (AC) on breast cancer patients, focusing on changes in body composition, advanced echocardiographic parameters at rest and during exercise, and biomarkers; and subsequently assesses whether these parameters are associated with impaired cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF).

Methods: In this prospective study, we evaluated women with early-stage breast cancer undergoing AC at three visits: before AC, 1 month after, and 6 months post-AC.

Results: The study included 32 women with breast cancer, with functional disability increasing from 9.
