The present study is a conceptual replication of the functional alternative hypothesis, which states that when it is difficult for some persons to form satisfactory interpersonal relationships they turn to parasocial relationships as a functional alternative. In this study, the (CAS), a one-item measure of interest in celebrities in general, the (FALS), and the (RESS) were administered to 222 self-identified LGBT+ and 436 self-identified heterosexual persons from the Philippines aged 18 to 77 years old. We hypothesized that sexual orientation would moderate the relationship between loneliness and celebrity worship, such that the association between loneliness and celebrity worship would be stronger among LGBT+ individuals than among heterosexual individuals. This hypothesis was confirmed when the target person was one's favorite celebrity. Second, we hypothesized that lower levels of perceived social support among LGBT+ Filipinos would be associated with a stronger correlation between loneliness and celebrity worship as compared to LGBT+ Filipinos with a higher level of social support. Third, we hypothesized that younger LGBT+ persons would have a stronger association between loneliness and celebrity worship as compared to older LGBT+ persons. Results failed to confirm the social support and age hypotheses. The findings and limitations were discussed, and suggestions for further research were noted.

Objectives: The aims of this study were to 1) categorize and quantify the most frequent concerns of informal caregivers, 2) conduct a thematic analysis on a sample of the posts, and 3) examine a subset of 100 post responses to determine if they are supportive and evidence- based.
Method: For Aims 1 and 2, we used a qualitative descriptive design using content analysis. To address Aim 3, we used a Delphi method in a subset sample of responses to posts to determine if they were supportive or not and evidence-based or not.

Background: Local authorities need to find new ways of collecting and using data on social care users' experiences to improve service design and quality. Here we draw on and adapt an approach used in the healthcare improvement field, accelerated experience-based co-design, to see if it can be translated to social care. We use loneliness support as our exemplar.

This article is based on 21 interviews in an Atlantic Canadian city with people who identified as having few or no friends. With all the talk of a modern loneliness epidemic, we might easily assume friendless people are lonely, yet here we take an interpretive approach to analyze how they alternately claim to experience and not experience loneliness. We argue that claims to loneliness or its absence are never merely personal stories or problems of individual health or wellbeing, but are shaped by larger cultural resources and meanings.

The trend of male celebrities endorsing female products is increasing. However, research is lacking on whether this influence is due to the positive emotions generated by the male celebrity's attractiveness or the peer pressure due to mass purchases by the celebrity's fans, and how these effects differ across products with different attributes. This study aims to fill the gap in the existing literature by investigating the influence of male endorsers on female consumers purchase intention, and to deepen the understanding of the mechanisms by which attractiveness and conformity jointly influence purchase decisions.
