Background: Perform sound decisions making while operating is crucial to the success of surgical procedures. The bewildering to choose the preferred mode of decision-making during a surgical procedure is regularly observed. This study was aimed to assess the mode of decision-making approach in surgical procedures among women who have undergone obstetrics and gynaecologic surgeries, Jimma, Ethiopia 2020.

Methods: Facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted from April 1 to May 30, 2020, at Jimma Medical Center. A total of 372 surgical patients were selected using a systematic sampling method. The collected data were coded, entered into Epi data version 3.1, and analysed using SPSS version 25. Multinomial logistic regression was carried out to determine the association between the outcome variable and independent variables.

Results: Three hundred seventy-two respondents were interviewed and give a 92% response rate. The majority of 220 (59.1%) respondents reported that they decided on the surgical procedures through themselves without external coercion, followed by a shared 94 (25.3%) and paternalism 58 (15.6%). The multinomial logistic regression analysis in model-1 shows that patient-healthcare provider's relationship and practice of informed consent predictors were statistically significant with shared decision making. Moreover in model-2 patient healthcare providers' relationship, marital status, and time spent on decision variables were statistically significant with the outcome variable.

Conclusion: In the study, the shared decision-making was inadequate and not in line with recent recommendation guidelines. The paternalism mode of decision-making was still practice. Build patient-health care providers' relationship is vital for promoting and advance the patients' autonomy on the decision-making approach. The healthcare providers should be motive for collaborative decision-making with the patient.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify trajectories of BMI, obesity-specific health-related quality of life (HR-QoL), and depression trajectories from pre-surgery to 24 months post-bariatric metabolic surgery (BMS), and explore their associations, addressing subgroup differences often hidden in group-level analyses.

Method: Patients with severe obesity (n = 529) reported their HR-QoL and depression before undergoing BMS, and at 12 and 24 months post-operation. Latent Class Growth Analysis was used to identify trajectories of BMI, HR-QoL and depression.

Purpose: Trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (Trop2) is overexpressed in various solid tumors and contributes to tumor progression, while its expression remains low in normal tissues. Trop2-targeting antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), sacituzumab govitecan-hziy (Trodelvy), has shown efficacy in targeting this antigen. Leveraging the enhanced specificity of ADCs, we conducted the first immunoPET imaging study of Trop2 expression in gastric cancer (GC) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) models using Zr-labeled Trodelvy ([Zr]Zr-DFO-Trodelvy).

The main aim of this meta-analysis is to assess and compare the impact of two different surgical approaches, transperitoneal and retroperitoneal, on perioperative outcomes in robotic partial nephrectomy. A systematic search of MEDLINE, PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Database was conducted to identify relevant studies published between January 2000 and January 2025. Included were nine non-randomized controlled trials with a total of 2420 patients with matching propensity scores.

Purpose Of Review: Protein intake is recognized as a key nutritional factor crucial for optimizing Metabolic Bariatric Surgery (MBS) outcomes by preventing protein malnutrition, preserving fat-free mass, and inducing satiety. This paper discusses the current evidence regarding protein intake and its impact on clinical outcomes following MBS.

Recent Findings: There are considerable gaps in the understanding of protein requirements following MBS, as existing guidelines are based on limited and inconsistent reports.
