Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how different obstacle contrasts influenced walking behavior in young and older adults.
  • Older adults showed significant differences in gait compared to younger adults, such as a farther back trail foot position and slower crossing speeds.
  • Higher contrast obstacles resulted in greater foot clearance and adjustments in foot positioning, indicating that visual properties of obstacles affect walking dynamics.

Early developmental trajectories of the impaired hand in infants with unilateral cerebral palsy.

Dev Med Child Neurol

January 2025

Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Rehabilitation Research Centre, Child Health Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Aim: To identify developmental trajectories of impaired hand function in infants aged 3 to 15 months with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP).

Method: Sixty-three infants (37 male; median gestational age 37 weeks [interquartile range 30-39.1 weeks]) recruited as part of a randomized trial with a confirmed diagnosis of unilateral CP were included.

Dual-view global and local category-attentive domain alignment for unsupervised conditional adversarial domain adaptation.

Neural Netw

January 2025

School of Computer Engineering and Science, Shanghai University, Shanghai, 200444, China. Electronic address:

Conditional adversarial domain adaptation (CADA) is one of the most commonly used unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) methods. CADA introduces multimodal information to the adversarial learning process to align the distributions of the labeled source domain and unlabeled target domain with mode match. However, CADA provides wrong multimodal information for challenging target features due to utilizing classifier predictions as the multimodal information, leading to distribution mismatch and less robust domain-invariant features.

A Comparative Analysis of the Effects of Misaligning Different Trifocal Intraocular Lenses.

J Clin Med

December 2024

The David J Apple Center for Vision Research, Department of Ophthalmology, Heidelberg University Eye Clinic, University Hospital Heidelberg, Im Neuenheimer Feld 400, 69120 Heidelberg, Germany.

This laboratory study aims to assess the effects of misaligning different trifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) under varying spectral and corneal spherical aberration (SA) conditions. With an IOL metrology device under monochromatic and polychromatic conditions, the following models were studied: AT ELANA 841P, AT LISA Tri 839MP, FineVision HP POD F, Acrysof IQ PanOptix, and Tecnis Synergy ZFR00V. The SA was simulated using an aberration-free and average-SA cornea.

Dog-Owner Relationship and Its Association with Social Cognition in French Bulldogs.

Animals (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Animal Science, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Groblje 3, 1230 Domžale, Slovenia.

Our understanding of social cognition in brachycephalic dog breeds is limited. This study focused specifically on French Bulldogs and hypothesized that a closer relationship between dog and owner would improve the dogs' understanding of nonverbal cues, particularly pointing gestures. To investigate this, we tested twenty-six dogs and their owners in a two-way object choice test in which the familiar person pointed to the bowl.
