Epidermal progenitor cells divide symmetrically and asymmetrically to form stratified epidermis and hair follicles during late embryonic development. Flightless I (Flii), an actin remodelling protein, is implicated in Wnt/β-cat and integrin signalling pathways that govern cell division. This study investigated the effect of altering Flii on the divisional orientation of epidermal progenitor cells (EpSCs) in the basal layer during late murine embryonic development and early adolescence. The effect of altering Flii expression on asymmetric vs. symmetric division was assessed in vitro in adult human primary keratinocytes and in vivo at late embryonic development stages (E16, E17 and E19) as well as adolescence (P21 day-old) in mice with altered Flii expression (Flii knockdown: , wild type: WT, transgenic Flii overexpressing: ) using Western blot and immunohistochemistry. embryonic skin showed increased asymmetrical cell division of EpSCs with an increase in epidermal stratification and elevated talin, activated-Itgb1 and Par3 expression. led to increased symmetrical cell division of EpSCs with increased cell proliferation rate, an elevated epidermal SOX9, Flap1 and β-cat expression, a thinner epidermis, but increased hair follicle number and depth. Flii promotes symmetric division of epidermal progenitor cells during murine embryonic development.

Background: Alzheimer disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that is accountable for the leading case of dementia in elder people. Before, only symptomatic treatments are available for AD. Since 2021, two anti-amyloid antibodies aducanumab and lecanemab have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Histology is a preclinical subject transversal in medical, dental, and veterinary curricula. Classical teaching approaches in histology are often undermined by lower motivation and engagement of students, which may be addressed by innovative learning environments. Herein, we developed a serious game approach and compared it with a classical teaching style.

The hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1 alpha) is a major regulator of adaptive response to hypoxia, common in patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In addition, HIF-1 alpha regulates the expression of the most important proteins necessary for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection of cells. The study included 129 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Purpose Of The Study: Temporary hemiepiphyseodesis using figure-eight plates is currently one of the main surgical techniques to correct axial deformities of lower limbs in paediatric patients. Comprehensive analysis, correct indication and monitoring of treatment are the basic prerequisites for successful therapy. The aim of the study was to analyse parameters that could become an alternative to standard parameters used nowadays, namely the inserted screw angle (SA), and a new parameter - condylar ratio (CR).

Inositol polyphosphate-5-phosphatase E (INPP5E) is a 5-phosphatase critically involved in diverse physiological processes, including embryonic development, neurological function, immune regulation, hemopoietic cell dynamics, and macrophage proliferation, differentiation, and phagocytosis. Mutations in cause Joubert and Meckel-Gruber syndromes in humans; these are characterized by brain malformations, microphthalmia, situs inversus, skeletal abnormalities, and polydactyly. Recent studies have demonstrated the key role of INPP5E in governing intracellular processes like endocytosis, exocytosis, vesicular trafficking, and membrane dynamics.
