Cardiorenal syndrome is a term that defines the complex bidirectional nature of the interaction between cardiac and renal disease. It is well established that patients with kidney disease have higher incidence of cardiovascular comorbidities and that renal dysfunction is a significant threat to the prognosis of patients with cardiac disease. Fibrosis is a common characteristic of organ injury progression that has been proposed not only as a marker but also as an important driver of the pathophysiology of cardiorenal syndromes. Due to the relevance of fibrosis, its study might give insight into the mechanisms and targets that could potentially be modulated to prevent fibrosis development. The aim of this review was to summarize some of the pathophysiological pathways involved in the fibrotic damage seen in cardiorenal syndromes, such as inflammation, oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress, which are known to be triggers and mediators of fibrosis.

Four major areas in which innovation is ongoing were highlighted: technology, policy, population health, and lifestyle and behavioral modification. This article presents a brief contextualization, summary, and analysis of the novel initiatives being implemented in each of these 4 areas to address cardiometabolic syndrome.

Background/objectives: Heparan sulfate (HS) is a polysaccharide that is found on the surface of cells and has various biological functions in the body.
Methods: The purpose of this study was to predict the pharmacological effects and molecular mechanisms of HS on Alzheimer's disease (AD) and neuroinflammation (NI) through a network pharmacology analysis and to experimentally verify them.
Results: We performed functional enrichment analysis of common genes between HS target genes and AD-NI gene sets and obtained items such as the "Cytokine-Mediated Signaling Pathway", "Positive Regulation Of MAPK Cascade", and "MAPK signaling pathway".

Background: As an emerging concept, Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome (CKM) elucidates the intricate interconnection between metabolic disorders(Mets), cardiovascular disease(CVD), and chronic kidney disease(CKD). Within this context, while numerous studies have demonstrated a correlation between the Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) and CVD, the precise relationship between long-term fluctuations in the AIP and the incidence of CVD in patients with CKM syndrome remains unclear.
Method: The CKM stages 0-3 population was obtained from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).
