Published: July 2021

The explosive detection canine (EDC) team is currently the best available mobile sensor capability in the fight against explosive threats. While the EDC can perform at a high level, the EDC team faces numerous factors during the search process that may degrade performance. Understanding these factors is key to effective selection, training, assessment, deployment, and operationalizable research. A systematic description of these factors is absent from the literature. This qualitative study leveraged the perspectives of expert EDC handlers, trainers, and leaders ( = 17) to determine the factors that degrade EDC performance. The participants revealed factors specific to utilization, the EDC team, and the physical, climate, operational, and explosive odor environments. Key results were the reality of performance degradation, the impact of the handler, and the importance of preparation. This study's results can help improve EDC selection, training, assessment, and deployment and further research into sustaining EDC performance.

Article Synopsis
  • Team-Based Learning (TBL) is gaining traction in educational research, focusing on its effectiveness, the groups that benefit most, and the elements that are studied the most and least.
  • An extensive review examined 23 studies from 2013-2024, revealing a significant spike in research in 2022, particularly from the U.S. and China, indicating TBL enhances cognitive outcomes and clinical performance while its effects on retention are mixed.
  • Freshmen, academically weaker students, and nursing students notably benefit from TBL; however, faculty face a temporary increase in workload and development opportunities remain limited.

Background/objectives: Benralizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-5 receptor (IL-5Rα), leading to the rapid depletion of blood eosinophils. RCTs have demonstrated efficacy in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA). The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of benralizumab on sinonasal outcomes in a real-life setting in patients with SEA and concomitant chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP).

Introduction: The configuration of electronic data capture (EDC) systems has a relevant impact on data quality in studies and patient registries. The objective was to develop a method to visualise the configuration of an EDC system to check the completeness and correctness of the data definition and rules.

Methods: Step 1: transformation of the EDC data model into a graphical model, step 2: Checking the completeness and consistency of the data model, step 3: correction of identified findings.

Background: The educational needs of future health administrators, prioritizing their needs, and developing a relationship between these needs and the needs of the community are very important to provide better responsiveness. We aimed to identify the knowledge and skills required for health care management students as future managers of the health community.

Methods: In this systematic literature review, all studies conducted between 1990 and 2021 were searched in such databases as MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest Iran Medex, Magiran and Scientific Information Database (SID), and the collected data were analyzed via the thematic analysis method.
