Background: Shigella infections remain endemic in places with poor sanitation and are a leading cause of diarrheal mortality globally, as well as a major contributor to gut enteropathy and stunting. There are currently no licensed vaccines for shigellosis but it has been estimated that an effective vaccine could avert 590,000 deaths over a 20-year period. A challenge to effective Shigella vaccine development has been the low immunogenicity and protective efficacy of candidate Shigella vaccines in infants and young children.

Polycystic kidney and hepatic disease 1-like protein 1 (PKHD1L1) is predicted to encode a large type I transmembrane protein involved in hearing transmission and mediating cellular immunity under physiological conditions. However, its role in cancer progression, especially in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we observed significantly lower expression of PKHD1L1 in LUAD tissues than in normal lung tissues on the basis of the integration of public datasets from the TCGA and GEO cohorts.

Background: The objective was to characterize the colostrum proteome of primiparous Holstein cows in association with immunoglobulin G (IgG) content. Immediately after calving, colostrum samples were collected from 18 cows to measure IgG concentration. Based on colostrum IgG content, samples were classified through cluster analysis and were identified as poor, average, and excellent quality.

Vaccination is an effective strategy for preventing infectious diseases. Subunit vaccines offer more precise targeting and safer protection compared with traditional inactivated virus vaccines. However, due to their poor immunogenicity, subunit vaccines necessitate the use of adjuvants to stimulate the immune system.

Background: Patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis are at increased risk for infection and impaired vaccination responses. We analyzed overlap and influencing factors of vaccination responses against severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus disease 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and Hepatitis B virus (HBV).
Methods: SARS-CoV-2 and HBV vaccination response was assessed in a cohort of German ESRD hemodialysis patients.
