Unlabelled: Motivated behaviors are regulated by distributed forebrain networks. Traditional approaches have often focused on individual brain regions and connections that do not capture the topographic organization of forebrain connectivity. We performed co-injections of anterograde and retrograde tract tracers in rats to provide novel high-spatial resolution evidence of topographic connections that elaborate a previously identified closed-loop forebrain circuit implicated in affective and motivational processes.

Importance: The pathophysiology of ADHD is complicated by high rates of psychiatric comorbidities, thus delineating unique versus shared functional brain perturbations is critical in elucidating illness pathophysiology.

Objective: To investigate resting-state fMRI (rsfMRI)-complexity alterations among children with ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), respectively, and comorbid ADHD, ODD, and OCD, within the cool and hot executive function (EF) networks.

Design: We leveraged baseline data (wave 0) from the Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study.

Surgical Approaches to Pre-Auricular Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinomas Extending to the Temporal Bone.

Head Neck

January 2025

Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Queensland Skull Base Unit, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Background: Standardized surgical approaches to advanced pre-auricular cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (cSCC) are lacking.

Methods: Fifty-four patients who underwent lateral temporal bone resection (LTBR) for pre-auricular cSCC were grouped into "Levels" of increasing disease spread. Surgical approaches to achieve negative-margin resection were designed for each Level and replicated on cadaveric specimens.

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) carries significant mortality and disability rates, with rebleeding posing a grave risk, particularly in anterior communicating artery (AcoA) aneurysms. This retrospective study aims to analyze preoperative and intraoperative variables of patients with ruptured AcoA aneurysms, evaluating the association of these variables with patient outcomes using machine learning techniques, proposing a prognostic score. : A retrospective study was conducted on 50 patients who underwent microsurgical clipping for a ruptured AcoA aneurysm at San Giovanni Bosco Hospital, Turin, Italy.

: Despite its advantages, lateral close-wedge high tibial osteotomy (LCWHTO) requires proximal tibiofibular joint detachment (PTFJD) or fibular shaft osteotomy for gap closing. These fibula untethering procedures are technically demanding and not free from the risk of neurovascular injuries. Our novel fibula untethering technique, tibial-sided osteotomy (TSO) near the proximal tibiofibular joint (PTFJ), aims to reduce technical demands and the risk of injury to the peroneal nerve and popliteal neurovascular structures.
