The frequency and clinical relevance of rare pathogens at the site of periprosthetic infections of the hip and knee joint and their antibiotic resistance profiles have not yet been assessed in-depth. We retrospectively analyzed all periprosthetic hip and knee joint infections that occurred between 2016 and 2020 in a single center in southwest Germany. Among 165 infections, 9.7% were caused by rare microorganisms such as sp., sp., sp., Citrobacter koseri, Serratia marcescens, Parvimonas micra, Clostridium difficile, Finegoldia magna, Morganella morganii, and yeasts. No resistance to piperacillin/tazobactam, carbapenemes, fluoroquinolones, or gentamicin was observed. Some bacteria displayed resistance to ampicillin, ampicillin/sulbactam, and cefuroxime. We present follow-up data of patients with infections due to rare pathogens and discuss the importance of close, interdisciplinary collaboration between orthopedic surgeons and clinical microbiologists to carefully select the most appropriate anti-infective treatment regimens for the increasing number of patients with such infections.

Background: Very long-chain acyl-coenzyme A dehydrogenase deficiency (VLCADD) is a rare autosomal recessive disease associated with variants in the gene.
Methods: In December 2021, a neonate with VLCADD was identified via newborn screening in Xuzhou, China. Genetic testing and genetic family verification were performed via high-throughput sequencing combined with Sanger sequencing.

Introduction: is a formidable pathogen that poses a significant threat to immunocompromised and might cause rare atypical forms of the disease especially complicated with coinfection.
Case: We present a case of a patient with meningoencephalitis, endocarditis, sepsis, and osteomyelitis, highlighting the complexities of managing disseminated polymicrobial infection. A 64-year-old female with multiple myeloma treated with chemotherapy presented with fever, altered mental status, nausea, and diarrhea to the emergency department.

Histone mutations (H3 K27M, H3 G34R/V) are molecular features defining subtypes of paediatric-type diffuse high-grade gliomas (HGG) (diffuse midline glioma (DMG), H3 K27-altered, diffuse hemispheric glioma (DHG), H3 G34-mutant). The WHO classification recognises in exceptional cases, these mutations co-occur. We report one such case of a 2-year-old female presenting with neurological symptoms; MRI imaging identified a brainstem lesion which was biopsied.

Background: To assess the utility of the TCGA molecular classification of endometrial cancer in a well-annotated, moderately sized, consecutive cohort of Chinese patients with ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC).
Methods: We performed DNA sequencing on 80 OCCC patients via a panel that contains 520 cancer-related genes. The TCGA molecular subtyping method was utilized for classification.

The facial gestalt (overall facial morphology) is a characteristic clinical feature in many genetic disorders that is often essential for suspecting and establishing a specific diagnosis. Therefore, publishing images of individuals affected by pathogenic variants in disease-associated genes has been an important part of scientific communication. Furthermore, medical imaging data is also crucial for teaching and training deep-learning models such as GestaltMatcher.
