Nonlinear amplification of nano bowl surface concavity on the critical response threshold to biosignals.

Nat Commun

October 2024

State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers, Fudan University, No.220, Handan Road, Shanghai, China.

Polymer nanoparticles that can sharply sense and detect biological signals in cells are promising candidates for biomedical and theranostic nanomaterials. However, the response ability of current polymer assemblies poorly matches the requirement of trace concentration level (10 ~ 10mol/L) of cellular biosignals due to their linear signal input-to-function output mode, which impedes their practical applications in vivo. Here we report a kind of nanobowl system with pH-tunable invaginated morphology that can nonlinearly amplify the response abilities toward biosignals by modulating the surface concavity.

Postoperative breast cancer recurrence is tricky due to the limited therapeutic options. Transforming growth factors-β (TGF-β) is vital in promoting postoperative tumor recurrence. However, conventional blocking strategies fail to satisfy both bio-safety and sufficient relapse correction.

A unique direct asymmetric synthesis of α-aminoimines is realized, through rapid and exclusive mono-allylation of chiral bis-N-sulfinylimines using allylboronic acids. The highly selective allylation was possible as electrophilic imine functional group in the product α-aminoimines remained unreactive towards allyl boronic acid nucleophiles. Notably, by varying the geometry and chiral auxiliary, all four isomers of the α-aminoimines were accessed from readily available precursors.

Objective: The indices to measure disease activity of chronic arthritis in adulthood and childhood are different. Therefore, assessing the status of the disease in young patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) can be tricky, especially when the transition to adult care is ongoing. The aim of our study was to assess the level of correlation between adult and juvenile scores in the measurement of disease activity in JIA patients during transitional care.

Background: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a tricky puzzle in the field of female reproductive medicine. Bushen Huoxue recipe (BHR), a traditional Chinese medicine compound based on the combination of kidney-tonifying and blood-activating functions, has shown excellent efficacy in improving female irregular menstruation, POI, and infertility. However, the potential mechanism of BHR in POI treatment has not yet been elucidated.
