Renal interstitial fibrosis (RIF) is a common pathway in chronic kidney disease (CKD) that ultimately leads to end-stage renal failure, worsening both glomerulosclerosis and interstitial fibrosis. Ten percent of the adult population in the world suffers from CKD, and as the ageing population continues to rise, it is increasingly regarded as a global threat-a silent epidemic. CKD has been discovered to be closely associated with both long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs), while the precise molecular processes behind this relationship are still unclear.

Objective: The expansion of human activities in northern Colombia has increased human-snake encounters, particularly with venomous . Given the limited knowledge of systemic envenomation effects and previous studies focusing only on early murine symptoms, this investigation aimed to describe the time-course physiopathology of envenomation following intramuscular injection .
Methods: Venom was inoculated in the gastrocnemius muscles of Swiss Webster mice, and blood, urine, and tissue samples were taken at different times to evaluate lethality and biochemical markers of renal function and oxidative stress.

Objectives: SGLT-2 inhibitors have been shown to exert cardio- and renoprotective actions. We aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms using H-NMR based metabolomics in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus who received dapagliflozin.
Methods: 50 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, inadequately controlled on metformin monotherapy (HbA1c > 7%) received dapagliflozin for 3 months and 30 matched patients received insulin degludec for 3 months.

Background: Infection of hemodialysis access is a clinically important concern and can lead to increased morbidity and mortality among patients on hemodialysis. In this study, we aimed to determine whether using taurolidine as an irrigating antiseptic after drainage of pus or removal of infected tissue and graft during surgery decreases the relapse and recurrence of infection.
Methods: Between January 2016 and December 2023, 48 episodes in 38 patients hospitalized and treated for hemodialysis access infections were examined.
