Evaluation of the cavum septum pellucidum is required in standard second-trimester screening fetal anatomy ultrasound scans. The absence of septum pellucidum triggers further evaluation and referral for subspecialty counseling. Absence of septum pellucidum is linked to other midline anomalies including septo-optic dysplasia.

Objective: Clinical validity of genome sequencing (GS) (>30×) has been preliminarily verified in the post-natal setting. This study is to investigate the potential utility of trio-GS as a prenatal test for diagnosis of central nervous system (CNS) anomalies.

Methods: We performed trio-based GS on a prospective cohort of 17 foetuses with CNS abnormalities.

Importance: The identification of the cavum septum pellucidum (CSP) is an integral part of the routine second trimester fetal anatomy scan. The absence or nonvisualization of the CSP has significant clinical implications and requires further evaluation and counseling for the pregnant patient.

Objective: The aim of this review is to review the importance of accurate sonographic identification of the CSP and the underlying pathologies that can be associated with nonvisualization of this structure.

Background: It is known that there is a relationship between psychotic disorders and the presence of cerebral midline defects, such as the cavum septum pellucidum and the absence of adhesio interthalamica. This study aims to investigate whether these defects in people with alcohol/substance use disorders are associated with the occurrence and persistence of psychotic symptoms.

Methods: The files of the patients who were hospitalized in an addiction inpatient unit were retrospectively scanned.

Introduction: Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) is a neuromodulatory technique that stimulates the auricular branch of the vagus nerve. The modulation of the locus coeruleus-norepinephrine (LC-NE) network is one of the potential working mechanisms of this method. Our aims were 1-to investigate if short and single applications of taVNS can modulate the P300 cognitive event-related potential (ERP) as an indirect marker that reflects NE brain activation under control of the LC, and 2-to evaluate the duration of these changes.
