Biodiversity is in rapid decline, but the extent of loss is not well resolved for poorly known groups. We estimate the number of extinctions for Australian non-marine invertebrates since the European colonisation of the continent. Our analyses use a range of approaches, incorporate stated uncertainties and recognise explicit caveats.

Background: Excessive purine intake increases the risk of hyperuricemia and gout. This study investigates the relationship between purine content in mutton and meat quality traits and explores the regulatory mechanism of purine metabolism through transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people face unique challenges in the context of cancer due to cis-heterocentric constructions of sexuality in oncological care. This paper explores the impacts of these challenges for LGBTQ people with a cervix, examining embodied sexual changes and sexual renegotiation during and after cancer, and the implications for LGBTQ people's access to relevant, tailored cancer information and support. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 57 LGBTQ people with a cervix with cancer and 14 intimate partners, representing a range of cancer types and stages.

COVID-19 vaccines are crucial in reducing SARS-CoV-2 transmission and severe health outcomes. Despite widespread administration, their long-term systemic effects on human metabolism remain inadequately understood. This longitudinal study aims to evaluate IgG responses, 34 cytokines, 112 lipoproteins, and 21 low-molecular-weight metabolites in 33 individuals receiving two to four COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Background: Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) causes a significant burden of illness for children under 2 years of age. Nirsevimab, a long-acting monoclonal antibody, was registered for RSV prevention in Australia in 2023. In April 2024, Western Australia (WA) launched the country's first state-wide nirsevimab program for all infants and high-risk children entering their second RSV season.
