In this study, an electrochemical sensor based multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-poly (4-amino-3-hydroxy naphthalene sulfonic acid) modified glassy carbon electrode (MWCNTs/poly (AHNSA)/GCE) was developed for the determination of uric acid (UA). The composite electrode was prepared first by electropolymerization of the monomer (AHNSA) on GCE using cyclic voltammetry within the potential range of -0.8 V to +2.0 V Ag/AgCl for 15 cycles followed by drop coating of MWCNTs solution on the surface of poly (AHNSA)/GCE. Under optimal conditions, MWCNTs/poly (AHNSA)/GCE showed a linear current response with UA concentrations in the range of 1 × 10 to 1 × 10 M with R = 0.9972. The sensor exhibited low detection limit with a value of 0.024 μM. The sensors have been applied to successfully quantify UA in urine samples.

Background: Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) is significantly correlated with glycolipid metabolic disorders. Increased GDF15 levels are associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes as well as a poorer diabetes progression and prognosis. This is a prospective cohort study investigated the association between circulating GDF15 and diabetic peripheral artery disease.

Background: Uric acid has antioxidant properties, and several studies have suggested its neuroprotective effects. Despite reports of increased oxidative damage and decreased antioxidants in anxiety disorders, findings remain inconclusive. This study investigated the association between serum uric acid levels and anxiety symptoms, stratified by sex, using nationwide data from South Korea.

Introduction: Hyperuricemia is characterized by increased uric acid (UA) in the body. The ability to block xanthine oxidase (XO) is a useful way to check how different bioactive molecules affect hyperuricemia. Previous reports showed the significant effect of corn against hyperuricemia disorder with its anti-XO activity.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has become one of the most prevalent chronic liver diseases worldwide. The serum uric acid-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (UHR) has been recognized as a novel marker for metabolic diseases, including MASLD. However, all previous studies were performed in adults.

Background: Hyperuricemia (HUA), marked by elevated serum urate levels, is increasingly prevalent worldwide. The relationship between lifestyle factors such as sleep duration, daytime napping, and HUA risk remains unclear. Although some studies suggest that sleep variables, including short or long sleep durations and napping, may influence serum uric acid levels, results are inconsistent.
