Background: In resource-limited settings, advanced airway management tools like fiberoptic bronchoscopes are often unavailable, creating challenges for managing difficult airways. We present the case of a 25-year-old male with post-burn contractures of the face, neck, and thorax in Nigeria, who had been repeatedly denied surgery due to the high risk of airway management complications. This case highlights how an awake intubation was safely performed using an Airtraq laryngoscope, the only device available, as fiberoptic intubation was not an option.

We investigated the amount and distribution of waste generated by commercial tobacco, electronic cigarette, and cannabis (TEC) use to inform policy options aimed at mitigating the environmental harm caused by these products. Using disproportionate stratified random sampling, we selected 60 census blocks from the eight largest cities in San Diego County, California. We twice surveyed publicly accessible areas in these blocks to quantify TEC waste accumulation and its re-accumulation.

Background: Multidose iodinated contrast media (ICM) injectors have shown promise in reducing ICM waste. This study aims to evaluate the impact of patient volume on ICM waste reduction in multidose injectors.
Methods: CT studies performed over one-year period with a multidose injector at our emergency CT unit.

During a closed connected single-use monoclonal antibody (mAb) purification process, samples for leachables screening were gathered from two parallel processes (using different capturing chromatography), from perfusion culture to final storage bags. These samples were prepared and analyzed using screening methods for HS-GC-MS, GC-MS, LC-QToF/ESI pos and neg, to be able to identify a broad spectrum of leachables. The identified compounds were sorted into sample points from different steps of the mAb process, compared with available extractables data mapped from the process equipment used.

Introduction: There is increasing prevalence of single-use flexible laryngoscopes in Otolaryngology. This study aims to quantify and compare the environmental outcomes of single-use disposable flexible laryngoscopes (SUD-Ls) and reusable flexible laryngoscope (R-Ls).
Methods: The ISO 14040 standardized Life Cycle Assessment (LCAs) was utilized to estimate the environmental footprint of SUD-L and R-L.
