: Cervical auscultation (CA) uses a stethoscope or microphone to complement the clinical swallow examination by interpreting swallowing sounds and swallow-respiratory coordination. This study investigated the effects of structured CA training on CA-rating agreement with Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and CA rater reliability.: Thirty-nine speech-language pathologists participated in a structured CA training course at Gothenburg University. They rated nine swallow-respiratory sound recordings which were simultaneously recorded during FEES. Swallow sounds were rated six weeks prior to the CA-workshop using two binary yes/no questions, (1) , (2) , and a third rating. Swallow sounds were rated again (re-randomised) one month post CA-workshop.: Agreement with FEES (validity) improved significantly ( < 0.05) pre-post training for the Safe and Dysphagia questions, with post training sensitivities >90% and specificities at 76% and 85% respectively. Dysphagia severity rating improved non-significantly. Intra-rater reliability improved significantly with kappa statistics >0.90 post training. Improvements for inter-rater reliability were noted, though non-significant.: Results demonstrate that with structured training, the validity of CA (to detect a Safe/Dysphagic swallow) significantly improves, as does intra-rater reliability. This is congruent with literature identifying the positive effects of structured training improving instrumental dysphagia assessment.

This study proposed a U-Net based partial convolutional time-domain model for a real-time high-density surface electromyography (HD-sEMG) decomposition. The model combines U-Net and a separation block containing partial convolution, aiming to efficiently identify motor units (MUs) without preprocessing. The proposed U-Net based network was trained by the HD-sEMG signals with innervation pulse trains (IPTs) labels, and the results are compared between different step sizes, noises, and model structures under the sliding time window with 120 sampling points.

Background: In clinical practices, doctors usually need to synthesize several single-modality medical images for diagnosis, which is a time-consuming and costly process. With this background, multimodal medical image fusion (MMIF) techniques have emerged to synthesize medical images of different modalities, providing a comprehensive and objective interpretation of the lesion.
Purpose: Although existing MMIF approaches have shown promising results, they often overlook the importance of multiscale feature diversity and attention interaction, which are essential for superior visual outcomes.

Background: Dialysis Access (DA) stenosis impacts hemodialysis efficiency and patient health, necessitating exams for early lesion detection. Ultrasound is widely used due to its non-invasive, cost-effective nature. Assessing all patients in large hemodialysis facilities strains resources and relies on operator expertise.

A new ethos of anatomy education goes beyond the learning of body parts in the traditional curriculum. In the traditional curriculum, the focus of only providing information on the structure of the human body left certain learning opportunities overlooked, marginalized, or dismissed as irrelevant; thus, opportunities to foster and shape professional attributes in health care learners were lost. Furthermore, changes in curricula structures and reductions in anatomy teaching hours have necessitated a transformation in how anatomy education is perceived and delivered.

This longitudinal study explored the contribution of transcription skills, oral language abilities, and executive functions in kindergarten to written production in grade 1 among Spanish-speaking children (N = 191) through structural equation modeling (SEM). Three dimentions of written production were assessed, including productivity, quality, and syntactic complexity. Accordingly, three SEM models were tested to explore these relationships, and the estimated models for each endogenous variable demonstrated good fit.
