Advances in next-generation sequencing have allowed the use of DNA obtained from unusual sources for wildlife studies. However, these samples have been used predominantly to sequence mitochondrial DNA for species identification while population genetics analyses have been rare. Since next-generation sequencing allows indiscriminate detection of all DNA fragments in a sample, technically it should be possible to sequence whole genomes of animals from environmental samples.

Lysine demethylase 7A (KDM7A) catalyzes the removal of dimethylation from histone H3 lysine 9 and lysine 27, both of which are associated with transcription repression. Previous study indicates that Kdm7a mRNA in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) increases after drug exposure, yet its role in drug-related behaviors is largely unknown. In a morphine-conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm, these findings reveal a specific increase of Kdm7a expression in the mPFC 7 days after drug withdrawal.

RNA pseudouridylation, a dynamic and reversible post-transcriptional modification found in diverse RNA species, is crucial for various biological processes, including tRNA homeostasis, tRNA transport, translation initiation regulation, pre-mRNA splicing, enhancement of mRNA translation, and translational fidelity. Disruption of pseudouridylation impairs cellular homeostasis, contributing to pathological alterations. Recent studies have highlighted its regulatory role in human diseases, particularly in tumourigenesis.

Background: Central nervous system tumors are among the most lethal types of cancer. A critical factor for tailored neurosurgical resection strategies depends on specific tumor types. However, it is uncommon to have a preoperative tumor diagnosis, and intraoperative morphology-based diagnosis remains challenging.

In this work, a site-selective functionalization strategy is proposed for modifying fluorescent dyes in the plasmonic nanopore, which highlights building optoelectronic dual-signal sensing interfaces at "hotspots" locations to construct multiparameter detection nanosensor. Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations confirmed the high-intensity electromagnetic field due to plasmonic nanostructure. It is demonstrated that adjusting the distance between the nanopore inner wall and fluorophore prevented the fluorescence quenching, resulting in more than a thirty fold fluorescence enhancement.
