Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the effects of adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, and combined tonsillectomy with adenoidectomy on children with obstructive sleep apnea using computational fluid dynamics simulations.
  • Using various surgical models and analyzing pressure, flow velocity, and flow distribution, the researchers identified changes in airflow dynamics post-surgery.
  • Results showed that combined surgery led to improved airflow uniformity in the upper airway, while each individual procedure also altered pressure and flow characteristics differently.
