Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) from oxaliplatin and taxane drugs is a bothersome toxicity. Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) has been reported to improve myelinated nerve fiber function in patients experiencing painful CIPN. We conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial of PEA in patients with established CIPN.

The changing climate could expand northwards in Europe the autumn sowing of cool-season grain legumes to take advantage of milder winters and to escape the increasing risk of terminal drought. Greater frost tolerance is a key breeding target because sudden frosts following mild-temperature periods may produce high winter mortality of insufficiently acclimated plants. The increasing year-to-year climate variation hinders the field-based selection for frost tolerance.

Background: We retrospectively analyzed the patients who underwent prone positioning (PP) for acute respiratory failure after pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA).
Methods: One hundred twenty five patients underwent PEA and the outcome related to patients who underwent PP for acute respiratory failure after surgery was analyzed.
Results: Thirteen patients (10%) underwent PP at the mean duration of 28.

Evidence suggests that paternal diet can influence offspring metabolic health intergenerationally but whether dietary animal and plant proteins differ in their impact on fathers and their offspring is not known. Our objective was to examine the effects of a paternal diet high in casein versus pea protein on fathers and their offspring. Five-week-old male rats were fed: 1) control, 2) high animal protein (AP, 36.

Dryland agriculture in the Inland Pacific Northwest is challenged in part by rising input costs for seed, fertilizer, and agrichemicals; threats to water quality and soil health, including soil erosion, organic matter decline, acidification, compaction, and nutrient imbalances; lack of cropping system diversity; herbicide resistance; and air quality concerns from atmospheric emissions of particulate matter and greenhouse gases. Technological advances such as rapid data acquisition, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and robotics have helped fuel innovation and discovery but have also further complicated agricultural decision-making and research. Meeting these challenges has promoted interest in (1) supporting long-term research that enables assessment of ecosystem service trade-offs and advances sustainable and regenerative approaches to agriculture, and (2) developing coproduction research approaches that actively engage decision-makers and accelerate innovation.
