In this study, we developed a simple and one-step Pd separation technique based on photoreduction with Xe lamp irradiation for the determination of Pd in highly radioactive samples. A simulated high-level radioactive liquid wastes (HLLW) solution, consisting of 14 major elements in a 3 mol L HNO solution, was used to evaluate the separation performance. The Pd precipitate was formed by Xe lamp irradiation, and recovered by centrifugation. The Pd recovery from the simulated HLLW solution reached up to 50%, while 99.5% of the other 13 elements was separated. These results indicate that the applicability of the proposed separation technique to HLLW samples.

It is still challenging to perform a high-throughput digestion on limited amounts of sample prior to elemental analysis by atomic spectrometry. Herein, a photochemical reactor consisting of a quartz tube inserted into a low-pressure mercury lamp was used to fabricate a flow droplet photodigestion (FD-PD) device for the high-throughput digestion of small amounts of samples. A mixture containing 20 μL of blood sample, 20 μL of HO, and 10 μL of HNO was pumped and passed through the reactor before its online analysis by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS).

Background: Previous studies have proven that 308-nm light-emitting diode(308-nm LED)and 308-nm excimer lamp(308-nm MEL) are effective in treating vitiligo, but there is a lack of comparison of their efficacy for facial lesions.

Objective: To evaluate and contrast the treatment success rates of 308-nm LED versus 308-nm excimer lamp in managing facial lesions among patients suffering from stable non-segmental vitiligo.

Methods: The enrolled 119 patients with 145 lesions were randomly assigned to receive 308-nm LED or 308-nm MEL for two months.

In an effort to meet the high demand for silver nanostructures in both research and consumer applications, we devise a simple and readily scaleable photochemical method through which silver nanostructures of varying morphologies, sizes, and optical properties can be synthesized using batch and flow photochemical strategies. For the latter we build upon the application of a wrapped-lamp photochemical flow system recently developed by our group to enable sequential irradiation with several wavelengths of LEDs in series in an approach that we describe as "plasmon pushing". We find that this strategy can accelerate the conversion of silver nanoparticle seeds to decahedral and triangular nanostructures, and that with it we have control over the tuning of the size and optical properties of triangular nanostructures in the red and near-IR regions.

A series of flexible polyacrylonitrile/TiO (PAN/P25) multi-porous nanotubular membranes were successfully constructed by facile electrospinning combined with an ethylene glycol solvothermal induce strategy. The effects of P25 dosage and solvothermal time on the morphology of samples were systematically investigated, which were characterized in terms of surface morphology, microstructure, specific surface area, thermal analysis, wettability, photoelectrochemical and fluorescence spectra. Rhodamine B (RhB) and () were employed as simulated pollutants to evaluate photocatalytic degradation and antibacterial properties of the PAN/P25-3 multi-porous nanotubular membrane.

Photo-thermo-electric conversion devices represent a promising technology for converting solar energy into electrical energy. Photothermal materials, as a critical component, play a significant role in efficient conversion from solar energy into thermal energy and subsequently electrical energy, thereby directly influencing the overall system's efficiency in solar energy utilization. However, the application of single-component photothermal materials in photo-thermo-electric conversion systems remains limited.
