Purpose: Obesity is associated with the risk of developing knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Furthermore, synovial basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is linked to the severity of KOA. We previously demonstrated that bFGF and mast cell (MC) marker expression were elevated in the synovial tissues (ST) of KOA patients with obesity. However, it remains unclear whether MCs contribute to bFGF expression and regulation.
Patients And Methods: Radiographically diagnosed KOA patients (n=249) were assigned to groups based on the body mass index (BMI) classifications used by the World Health Organization: normal-weight (NW, BMI <25 kg/m, n=95), overweight (OW, BMI ≥25 and <30, n=109) and obese (OB, ≥30 kg/m, n=45). expression in the ST was examined using quantitative polymerase chain reaction and compared across the BMI groups. Additionally, and ( expression were examined in freshly extracted MC-rich (THY-1-, CD3-, CD14-, and CD19-) and MC-poor (THY-1+, CD3+, CD14+, or CD19+) fractions from ST. Moreover, regulation of expression by IL-13 was studied in CD14-negative (fibroblast-rich) and CD14-positive (Mφ-rich) and cells in culture.
Results: expression was significantly higher in OB than in NW patients. Furthermore, although was significantly higher in the MC-rich than the MC-poor fraction, expression was comparable. Recombinant human IL-13 stimulated expression of in synovial fibroblast cells.
Conclusion: expression is higher in the ST of KOA patients with obesity. Increased numbers of MCs may contribute to the elevated expression through IL-13 in KOA patients with obesity.

Background: Regenerating periodontal ligament (PDL) tissue is a vital challenge in dentistry that aims to restore periodontal function and aesthetics. This study explores a tissue engineering strategy that combines polycaprolactone (PCL)/collagen/cellulose acetate electrospun scaffolds with collagen hydrogels to deliver curcumin-loaded ZIF-8 nanoparticles fand periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs).
Methods: Scaffolds were fabricated via electrospinningand collagen hydrogels incorporated PDLSCs and curcumin-loaded ZIF-8 nanoparticles (CURZIF-8) were developed using cross-linking.
This study aimed to develop novel hydrogels using polycaprolactone (PCL), nano-silver (Ag), and linalool (Lin) to address the challenge of increasing antimicrobial resistance in healing infected wounds. The hydrogels' morphological properties, in vitro release profiles, antibacterial efficacy, and safety were investigated. Hydrogels were prepared from PCL/Ag, PCL/Lin, and PCL/Ag/Lin formulations and applied to infected wounds.

Objective: To investigate the effect of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α expression (Exp) and HIF-1 transcription in breast cancer (BC) cells.
Methods: Human BC cell line T47D was utilized as the research object. Western blot and dual-luciferase system were utilized to detect HIF-1α Exp induced by bFGF in BC cells under hypoxia and normal oxygen conditions, as well as the Exp of phosphorylated ERK1/2, Akt, and p38 proteins, HIF-1α Exp induced by bFGF under kinase inhibitors' action, and HIF-1 transcription, thereby summarizing the impact of bFGF on BC cells and its association with PI-3 K Akt signaling pathway (SPW).

Epicardium, the most outer mesothelium, exerts crucial functions in fetal heart development and adult heart regeneration. Here we use a three-step manipulation of WNT signalling entwined with BMP and RA signalling for generating a self-organized epicardial organoid that highly express with epicardium makers WT1 and TCF21 from human embryonic stem cells. After 8-days treatment of TGF-beta following by bFGF, cells enter into epithelium-mesenchymal transition and give rise to smooth muscle cells.

Background: Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) face a higher risk of developing chronic refractory wounds. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) plays an important role in diabetes-related complications. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the 3 indicators and diabetic chronic refractory wounds, in order to establish the diagnostic value of these 3 indicators and provide reference for the treatment.
