To meet the increasing demands of the society in the current era, new strains of the domesticated silkworm Linnaeus, 1758 (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae) are being continuously bred. Consequently, cataloging the genetic information of pure lines is essential. The strain Jam 146, whose larvae have atypical pale, crescent-shaped body markings, is an important breeding resource due to its excellent fecundity. In this study, we sequenced the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of this strain using next-generation sequencing. The complete genome of this strain has a gene arrangement typical of Lepidoptera. The length of the Jam 146 mitogenome (15,661 bp) is well within the range reported in other strains, i.e. between 15,629 (Baiyun strain, China) and 15,676 bp (Hukpyobeom strain, South Korea). However, the total length of protein-coding genes, 3,733 codons in Jam 146 and two other silkworm strains previously reported from South Korea, is 13 codons longer than that in other strains. Phylogenetic analysis of 22 silkworm strains from nine countries showed that the Jam 146 strain forms a strong cluster with three other strains from China, Japan, and South Korea, suggesting that after their split from a common ancestor, the evolutionary divergence among the silkworm strains in these countries has been limited.

Background: DNA methylation (DNAm) may play a critical role in bridging prenatal adverse events and cardiometabolic disorders including hypertension in later life.
Methods: We included 672 adult participants with overweight or obesity, who participated in a 2-year randomized weight-loss dietary intervention study. We defined the regional DNAm levels as the average methylation level of 5'-cytosine-phosphate-guanine-3' within 500 bp of (cg01820192), (cg00508575), and (cg12593793), respectively.

Background: Given the morbidity and mortality associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), risk stratification approaches that guide therapeutic management have been previously employed. However, most patients remain in the intermediate-risk category despite initial therapy. Herein, we sought to determine whether echocardiographic parameters could improve the risk stratification of intermediate-risk patients.

Objectives: To (1) evaluate attitudes of resident physicians towards patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) and (2) identify characteristics associated with residents' desire to treat patients with OUD.
Methods: We administered the validated medical condition regard scale (MCRS), a question regarding desire to treat patients with OUD, and a demographic questionnaire to residents in multiple specialties at the University of New Mexico (family medicine, psychiatry, emergency medicine, internal medicine, anesthesiology, general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology).
Results: One hundred sixty-three of 307 residents (53%) responded to the survey; 146 provided complete responses to the "desire" and MCRS questions.
