Relapse is the most common cause of treatment failure following allogeneic blood or marrow transplantation (alloBMT) for AML or MDS. Post-transplant maintenance therapies may prevent relapse. We conducted a phase II trial combining azacitidine (AZA) with GM-CSF in non-relapsed, post-transplant patients with AML or MDS. Patients received escalating doses of AZA to a maximum of 75 mg/m for 5 days per cycle for up to 12 cycles. GM-CSF was given on days 1-10 of each cycle. Eighteen patients were treated following non-myeloablative (17) and myeloablative (1) alloBMT for AML (61.1%), MDS (27.7%), or therapy-related myeloid neoplasm (11.1%). The majority of patients (72%) received their graft from an HLA-haploidentical donor. The treatment was well-tolerated with rare grade 3-4 hematologic toxicities. One patient suffered an exacerbation of GVHD. The 24-month relapse-free and overall survivals were 47 and 57%, respectively, with a median of 18.6 and 29 months.

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a highly effective therapy for malignant blood illnesses that pose a high risk, as well as diseases that are at risk due to other variables, such as genetics. However, the prevalence of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) has impeded its widespread use. Ensuring the stability of microbial varieties and associated metabolites is crucial for supporting metabolic processes, preventing pathogen intrusion, and modulating the immune system.

Introduction: Acute normovolaemic haemodilution (ANH) is a perioperative blood management technique involving the removal of whole blood and simultaneous infusion of colloids or crystalloids to achieve haemodilution while maintaining normovolaemia. However, its efficacy in reducing the requirement for perioperative allogeneic blood transfusion remains controversial due to inconsistent findings in the literature. An individualised red cell transfusion strategy, guided by the West China Liu's Score, has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing the need for allogeneic red cell transfusion.

Background: Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is often refractory and relapsing, leading to increased mortality post-HSCT.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the cases of patients with transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia (TDT) who underwent allo-HSCT to study their clinical features, the occurrence of AIHA post-HSCT, and treatment response and to explore the possible pathogenesis of AIHA.
Result: A total of 113 patients were registered in the study, out of whom 14 developed AIHA following allo-HSCT, resulting in a cumulative incidence of 12.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the aggregation and accumulation of proteins including amyloid-β and tau. We previously compared the immunological milieus in the brain of mice with amyloid deposition or tau aggregation and found that mice with tauopathy but not amyloid developed a unique adaptive immune response with markedly increased activated T cells in areas with tau pathology. T cell depletion blocked tau-mediated neurodegeneration.

Methods: The authors analyze the characteristics, therapeutic approaches, and outcomes of patients with HMA-sAML from the Programa Español para el Tratamiento de Hemopatías Malignas (PETHEMA) registry.
Results: A total of 479 patients were included, mostly from prior myelodysplastic syndrome (84%).
