Acridino-diaza-20-crown-6 ether derivatives as new turn-on type fluorescent chemosensors with an excellent functionality and photophysical properties have been designed and synthesized for metal ion-selective optochemical sensing applications. Spectroscopic studies revealed that in an acetonitrile-based semi-aqueous medium, the sensor molecules exhibited a remarkable fluorescence enhancement with high sensitivity only toward Zn, Al and Bi, among 23 different metal ions. Studies on complexation showed a great coordinating ability of log > 4.7 with a 1:1 complex stoichiometry in each case. The detection limits were found to be from 59 nM to micromoles. The new ionophores enabled an optical response without being affected either by the pH in the range of 5.5-7.5, or the presence of various anions or competing metal ions. Varying the -substituents of the new host-backbone provides diverse opportunities in both immobilization and practical applications without influencing the molecular recognition abilities.

A new Rhodamine functionalised Schiff Base sensor 3',6'-bis(diethylamino)-2-((4-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)spiro[isoindoline-1,9'-xanthen]-3-one (SBRB1) was designed and synthesized. The recognition ability of sensor SBRB1 towards Hg was studied by using UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The fluorescence results showed that the sensor SBRB1 has specific selectivity as well as sensitivity towards Hg among other competitive metal ions as the fluorescence intensity at 479 nm quenched only in the presence of Hg.

The migration of Zn ions is significantly more challenging compared to that of Li ions within the same crystalline framework, leading to poor rate performance of zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs). Compared to Li, the slower migration rate of Zn is vaguely attributed to the stronger electrostatic interaction induced by Zn. Herein, the rule of how the size of the migration channel and electrostatic interaction affect Zn and Li migration in α-VO has been systematically investigated by first-principle calculations.

However, numerous mutations of uncertain significance are also linked to different conditions or benign traits. Our study characterized 21 variants and measured their impact on protein localization and intracellular levels of Cd, Zn, and Mn We identified four variants that disrupt protein expression, five variants with high retention in the endoplasmic reticulum, and 12 variants with localization to the plasma membrane.

2-{[3-(1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-2-hydroxy-5-methylbenzylidene] amino}-benzoic acid (HBIo) based on proton transfer can serve as the fluorescent probe for detecting heavy metal ions. The excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction mechanism of the HBIo chromophore with an intramolecular asymmetric double hydrogen bond in different solvents are investigated. The reaction barrier of the ESIPT along hydrogen bond O1-H2···N3 is higher than that of ESIPT along O4-H5···N6, which indicates that the double ESIPT is a stepwise process.

In this paper, we designed and synthesized a novel based on quinoline modification half-salamo-type Zn(II) complex([Zn(L)(μ-OCH)]·(ClO)), namely ZP. The structure of ZP was determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, in which the Zn(II) ions displayed in two different coordination modes, ultimately forming a highly symmetric heptanuclear structure. The Zn(II) complex probe modified by quinoline luminescent group has excellent luminescence properties and selectively recognizes Fe in aqueous solution.
