Equestrian sports are associated with high rates of major injury compared to collision and powered two-wheel sports. Advancements in rider and horse safety equipment and the implementation of comprehensive emergency action planning standards may help mitigate injuries, particularly in regard to the Olympic disciplines of dressage, show jumping, and three-day eventing covered in this review. Personal safety equipment to consider includes helmets, safety and air vests, and horse tack including safety stirrups, acoustic dampeners, and breakaway reins.

Background: Plantar fasciopathy is common, is characterized by heel pain and is associated with decreased functioning and health-related quality of life. While many recover from this condition, a considerable number of people experience persistent heel pain. This study seeks to evaluate predictors for pain and function twelve months after inclusion in a treatment trial in specialist care.

The 2017 USA Gymnastics (USAG) scandal, which revealed that Dr. Larry Nassar, head team physician for US gymnastics, sexually abused countless gymnasts, is one of the most widely recognized cases of sexual abuse in youth sports. Not only did Nassar abuse elite US gymnasts, but he also abused many student-athletes at Michigan State University.

Objective: Interpersonal violence (IV) in sport is challenging to define, prevent and remedy due to its subjectivity and complexity. The 2024 International Olympic Committee Consensus on Interpersonal Violence and Safeguarding aimed to synthesise evidence on IV and safeguarding in sport, introduce a new conceptual model of IV in sport and offer more accessible safeguarding guidance to all within the sports ecosystem by merging evidence with insights from Olympic athletes.
Methods: A 15-member expert panel performed a scoping review following Joanna Briggs Institute methodologies.
