Aims: We sought to compare vascular healing with bioresorbable everolimus-eluting vascular scaffolds (BVS) and drug-eluting stents with bioabsorbable polymers (BP-DES) at six and 12 months both implanted in the same patients.

Methods And Results: This was a multicentre and prospective study including patients with at least two comparable lesions to treat. In every patient both BVS and BP-DES (SYNERGY, Orsiro or BioMatrix Flex) were implanted by lesion randomisation.

Aims: Previous studies have associated issues such as incomplete stent apposition with delayed healing and adverse events (stent thrombosis). The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of strut apposition and stent type on the progression of stent strut coverage.

Methods And Results: We evaluated in vivo in porcine models the follow-up response and coverage characteristics of well-apposed and malapposed segments of drug-eluting stents (DES) (CYPHER, PROMUS Element and Orsiro) and the Absorb bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) by optical coherence tomography (OCT) sequentially, at baseline, and at one week and four weeks of follow-up.

Background: The presence of uncovered struts overlying side branch is considered to be a potential risk of stent thrombosis. The accuracy in detection of neointimal strut coverage at branch point by optical coherence tomography (OCT) has not been validated in comparison with histology.

Methods: A total of 5 stents (3 drug-eluting stents and 2 bare-metal stents) were implanted in the bifurcation segment of normal coronary arteries in 4 domestic swine (weight, 25-40 kg).
