Hydrogen exhibits the potential to treat Alzheimer's disease. Stereotactic injection has been previously used as an invasive method of administering active hydrogen, but this method has limitations in clinical practice. In this study, triple transgenic (3×Tg) Alzheimer's disease mice were treated with hydrogen-rich water for 7 months. The results showed that hydrogen-rich water prevented synaptic loss and neuronal death, inhibited senile plaques, and reduced hyperphosphorylated tau and neurofibrillary tangles in 3×Tg Alzheimer's disease mice. In addition, hydrogen-rich water improved brain energy metabolism disorders and intestinal flora imbalances and reduced inflammatory reactions. These findings suggest that hydrogen-rich water is an effective hydrogen donor that can treat Alzheimer's disease. This study was approved by the Animal Ethics and Welfare Committee of Shenzhen University, China (approval No. AEWC-20140615-002) on June 15, 2014.

Life cycle assessment on the role of HS-based hydrogen via HS-methane reforming for the production of sustainable fuels.

Research and Innovation Center on CO(2) and Hydrogen (RICH Center), Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, PO Box 127788, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Meeting current decarbonization targets requires a shift to a hydrogen energy nexus, yet, water is a valuable resource for hydrogen production, shifting the perspective to the use of HS instead within the context of circular economy. A comprehensive understanding of the environmental impacts, using a cradle-to-gate life cycle assessment (LCA), was developed focusing on the operation of hydrogen sulfide-methane reforming (HSMR) for H production benchmarked to conventional technologies, steam methane reforming (SMR) and SMR + carbon capture (CC), as feedstock to produce sustainable fuels (i.e.

Salt stress could lead to plant growth barriers and crop yield reduction. Strawberries are sensitive to salt stress, and improving salt tolerance is important for strawberry production. This study aimed to explore the potential of hydrogen-rich water (HRW) to enhance salt tolerance in strawberries.

The application of polymer flooding is challenging in harsh temperature and salinity conditions in Middle-Eastern carbonate reservoirs, as they can deteriorate the commonly used polymers such as Hydrolyzed Polyacrylamide (HPAM). One solution to this issue is the use of newly developed Acrylamido-Tertiary-Butyl Sulfonate (ATBS) based polymers, which can endure adverse temperature and salinity conditions. However, they also tend to adsorb onto carbonate rocks with positive surface charge.

This study presents a non-equimolar diffusion model to enhance the predictive accuracy of coke degradation kinetics in hydrogen-rich blast furnaces, where elevated water vapor (HO) levels are present. The model integrates the unreacted core shrink model with the Maxwell-Stefan equation to delineate the 3D curved surface distribution of HO concentration and the effective diffusion coefficient within the coke ash layer. Validated against experimental data, the model demonstrated a significant improvement in accuracy, with a deviation range of 0.

Gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity primarily results from renal inflammatory cascades and increased oxidative stress. This study aims to examine the effects of hydrogen-rich water (HRW) on gentamicin-induced renal damage in rats. Thirty-two rats were equally divided into four groups, including control (no treatment), hydrogen, gentamicin, and gentamicin+hydrogen.
