Covering: 2015 to 2020The -kaurane diterpenoids are integral parts of tetracyclic natural products that are widely distributed in terrestrial plants. These compounds have been found to possess interesting bioactivities, ranging from antitumor, antifungal and antibacterial to anti-inflammatory activities. Structurally, the different tetracyclic moieties of -kauranes can be seen as the results of intramolecular cyclizations, oxidations, C-C bond cleavages, degradation, or rearrangements, starting from their parent skeleton. During the past decade, great efforts have been made to develop novel strategies for synthesizing these natural products. The purpose of this review is to describe the recent advances in the total synthesis of -kaurane diterpenoids covering the period from 2015 to date.

Tripterifordin and neotripterifordin are important ent-kaurane diterpenoids in the Chinese medicinal herb Tripterygium wilfordii, possessing significant anti-HIV(human immunodeficiency virus) activity. On the basis of elucidating the natural biosynthetic pathways of these compounds, heterologous production with microbial cell factories can help to alleviate the reliance on plant resources and provide abundant raw materials for sustainable production. TwKO is the first CYP450 enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of tripterifordin and neotripterifordin.

Background: Flowering is a complex, finely regulated process involving multiple phytohormones and transcription factors. However, flowering regulation in pitaya (Hylocereus polyrhizus) remains largely unexamined. This study addresses this gap by investigating gibberellin-3 (GA3) effects on flower bud (FB) development in pitaya.

Ca and Mg are essential micronutrients for plant growth, and they play a crucial role in plant development and responses to adversity by influencing the activities of endogenous hormones and antioxidant enzymes. However, the specific mechanisms through which calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) regulate the kernel sugar content through endogenous hormones and antioxidant enzymes remain unclear. In this study, we analyzed the impact of Ca and Mg on the physiology of maize leaves and kernel quality by determining the activities of antioxidant enzymes and endogenous hormones, and the kernel sugar content in maize leaves when supplemented with different levels of Ca and Mg.

The lily is a globally popular cut flower, and managing dormancy in lily bulblets is essential for continuous, year-round production. While nitric oxide (NO) has been shown to influence seed dormancy and germination, its role in dormancy release in lilies was previously unconfirmed. In this study, we investigated the effects of NO on dormancy release in lily bulblets using SNP and c-PTIO.
