Background: We aimed to investigate the associations between glycemic biomarkers (hemoglobin A1c [HbA1c], fructosamine, and glycated albumin [GA]) in Korean adults.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data for HbA1c, fructosamine, and glycated albumin between August 28, 2017, and June 30, 2020, to investigate the association between HbA1c and fructosamine and between HbA1c and GA.

Results: Overall, 961 fructosamine and 142 GA tests concurrently measured HbA1c. The equations were HbA1c (%) = 0.0175 x fructosamine (µmol/L) + 1.6255 and HbA1c (%) = 0.2029 x GA + 2.8102, respectively. The absolute difference between estimated and measured HbA1c ranged from -3.4% to 2.1% HbA1c with the fructosamine equation and -3.2% to 2.8% HbA1c with the GA equation.

Conclusions: Fructosamine and GA may be useful adjuncts to HbA1c in Korean patients.

We aim to evaluate the dynamics of glycemic status and markers of carbohydrate metabolism 12 months after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and their relationship with the one-year prognosis. The analysis of outcomes of 653 patients during 1 year after coronary artery bypass grafting is presented. In those patients who visited the study center after 1 year, markers of carbohydrate metabolism (glucose, glycated hemoglobin, fructosamine, 1.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most widespread chronic diseases globally, with its prevalence expected to rise significantly in the years ahead. Previous studies on risk stratification for T2DM identify certain biomarkers, including glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), oral glucose tolerance testing (OGTT), fructosamine, and glycated albumin, as key indicators for predicting the onset and progression of T2DM. However, these traditional markers have been shown to lack sensitivity and specificity and their results are difficult to analyze due to non-standardized interpretation criteria, posing significant challenges to an accurate and definitive diagnosis.

The molecular basis of Human FN3K mediated phosphorylation of glycated substrates.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, One Bungtown Road, Cold Spring Harbor, New York, 11724, USA.

Glycation, a non-enzymatic post-translational modification occurring on proteins, can be actively reversed via site-specific phosphorylation of the fructose-lysine moiety by FN3K kinase, to impact the cellular function of the target protein. A regulatory axis between FN3K and glycated protein targets has been associated with conditions like diabetes and cancer. However, the molecular basis of this relationship has not been explored so far.

Biochemical Sciences Division, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, Maharashtra 411008, India. Electronic address:

In this cross-sectional study, we have analyzed advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in the plasma and follicular fluid of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) taking metformin during in vitro fertilization (IVF) and control women undergoing IVF. Glucose, fructose, fructosamine, carboxymethyl lysine/ arginine (CML/R) proteins, and pentosidine were measured in the plasma and paired follicular fluid. Glycated proteins were characterized by mass spectrometry.

Idesia polycarpa Maxim (IPM) cake meal, a major by-product of oil extraction, is often discarded in large quantities, resulting in considerable waste. This study explored the extraction of IPM polysaccharides (IPMPs) from cake meal using the innovative ultrasonic-assisted three-phase partitioning (UTPP) method, in comparison with conventional techniques, including acid, medium-temperature alkali, chelating agent, and enzyme extraction methods. The IPMP-UT prepared via UTPP method achieved superior extraction efficiency (10.
