Introduction: Hereditary transthyretin related amyloidosis (h-ATTR) classically presents as a small fiber neuropathy with positive family history, but can also be revealed by various other types of peripheral neuropathy.
Objective: To describe the initial electro-clinical presentation of patients from in a single region (northern France) of h-ATTR when it presents as a polyneuropathy of unknown origin.
Method: We reviewed the records of patients referred to two neuromuscular centers from northern France with a peripheral neuropathy of unknown origin who were subsequently diagnosed with h-ATTR.
Results: Among 26 h-ATTR patients (10 Val30Met, 16 Ser77Tyr), only 14 patients had a suspicious family history (53.8%). The electro-clinical presentation was mostly a large-fiber sensory motor polyneuropathy (92.3%), which could be symmetric or not, length-dependent or not, or associated with nerve entrapment or not. Demyelinating signs were observed in 17 patients (70.8%), among whom nine fulfilled the criteria for a definite diagnosis of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (37.5%).
Conclusion: h-ATTR may have a wide spectrum of clinical profiles, and should be considered in the screening of polyneuropathies of unknown origin.

Results: A comprehensive description of distinct neuroimaging and neurophysiological hallmarks that can aid in the recognition of these conditions is provided.

Objective: Diagnosing autoimmune limbic encephalitis (ALE) in adults with new-onset seizures can be challenging, especially when seizures represent the predominant manifestation and MRI findings are not straightforward. By comparison with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis (MTLE-HS), this study aimed to identify ictal electro-clinical features that might help clinicians recognize ALE-related seizures.
Methods: This retrospective, multi-centre study analysed the ictal semiology and EEG correlate of 116 video-EEG-captured seizures in 40 ALE patients and 45 ones recorded in 21 MTLE-HS subjects.

Malformation of cortical development is an important cause of drug-resistant epilepsy in young children. Mild malformation of cortical development with oligodendroglial hyperplasia in epilepsy (MOGHE) has been added to the last focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) classification and commonly involves the frontal lobe. The semiology at the onset of epilepsy is dominated by non-lateralizing infantile spasm; the boundaries of the malformation are usually difficult to determine by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET), and electroencephalography (EEG) findings are often widespread.

The insula is often referred to as "the fifth lobe" of the brain, and its accessibility used to be very limited due to the deep location under the opercula as well as the sylvian vasculature. It was not until the availability of modern stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) technique that the intracranial electrodes could be safely and chronically implanted within the insula, thereby enabling anatomo-electro-clinical correlations in seizures of this deep origin. Since the first report of SEEG-recorded insular seizures in late 1990s, the knowledge of insular lobe epilepsy (ILE) has rapidly expanded.
