A class of pyrimidine thioglycoside analogs () were synthesized from a reaction of 2-cyano-3,3-dimercapto--arylacrylamide () and thiourea to produce the corresponding 4-amino-2-mercapto--arylpyrimidine-5-carboxamide derivatives (), and stirring of compounds () with peracylated α-d-- and galacto-pyranosyl bromides () in DMF-sodium hydride gave the corresponding pyrimidine thioglycosides () Deacetylation of the pyrimidine thioglycosides via a reaction with dry NH/MeOH gave the corresponding free pyrimidine thioglycosides () The compounds have been characterized by C NMR, H NMR, and IR. Pharmacological evaluation of compounds , , and in vitro against SARS-COV-2 and Avian Influenza H5N1 virus strains revealed that some compounds possess interesting activity.

Cryptococcus neoformans is an opportunistic pathogenic fungus that produces melanin during infection, an important virulence factor in Cryptococcal infections that enhances the ability of the fungus to resist immune defense. This fungus can synthesize melanin from a variety of substrates, including L-DOPA (L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine). Since melanin protects the fungus from various stress factors such as oxidative, nitrosative, extreme heat and cold stress; we investigated the effects of environmental conditions on melanin production and survival.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae is important for protein secretion studies, yet the complexities of protein synthesis and secretion under endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress conditions remain not fully understood. ER stress, triggered by alterations in the ER protein folding environment, poses substantial challenges to cells, especially during heterologous protein production. In this study, we used RNA-seq to analyze the transcriptional responses of yeast strains to ER stress induced by reagents such as tunicamycin (Tm) or dithiothreitol (DTT).

Heat stress is one of the most common agrometeorological risks in crop production in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. This study aimed to investigate whether glutamic acid (Glu) or poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) biostimulants can improve the thermotolerance of a cool-season Chinese cabbage ( L. ssp.

Background: To investigate the effect of anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies (mAb) (daratumumab, DARA) and anti-CD47 mAb combined with azacytidine on blood transfusion compatibility tests, transfusion effects in the treatment of multiple myeloma or acute myeloid leukemia and the corresponding management strategy.

Materials And Methods: Among the 19 patients who were treated with DARA and anti-CD47 mAb, 4 patients with cross matching incompatibility were selected. The ABO blood group, the Rh blood group, irregular antibody screening and direct antiglobulin test (DAT) and cross matching testing were performed before and after the application of mAbs using serological methods.

Trichosporon asahii is a conditional pathogenic fungus that causes severe and sometimes fatal infections in immunocompromised patients. While calcineurin, an essential component of a calcium-dependent signaling pathway, is known to regulate stress resistance and virulence of some pathogenic fungi, its role in T. asahii has not been investigated.
