AI Article Synopsis

  • - The genus Meyrick and the species (Moore) have been newly identified in China and are documented as new to science, featuring detailed illustrations of their adults, head, venation, and genitalia.
  • - A molecular phylogenetic analysis was conducted to determine the generic relationship of the new species, involving 44 species across 38 genera in the Tineidae family.
  • - The analysis utilized maximum likelihood methods on specific mitochondrial and nuclear gene fragments, and DNA barcodes for the two new species were provided, including calculations of their genetic distance from four other species.

Article Abstract

The genus Meyrick, 1920 and the species (Moore, 1888) are newly recorded from China, and is described as new to science. Adults, head, venation, and genitalia of the two species are illustrated. A molecular phylogenetic analysis is presented to ascertain the generic affiliation of the new species. Forty-four species of 38 genera in Tineidae are analyzed using maximum likelihood methods based on one mitochondrial (COI) and two nuclear gene fragments (CAD and wingless). DNA barcodes of the two species are provided, and the genetic distance of barcode divergence among four species of is calculated.
