ScPO₄:Eu, Tb phosphors with tuned emission color were prepared through high temperature solid-state reaction. The structure, morphology and photoluminescence properties of the title samples were collected by XRD, SEM and fluorescence spectrophotometer, respectively. Co-doping Eu and Tb in ScPO₄ does not change the body-centered tetragonal structure of the host. And the morphology remains essentially unchanged except for slight agglomeration. Changing the ratio of Tb/Eu, the tuned emission can be achieved, the color could be adjusted from green through yellow to orange-red. The ScPO₄:0.03Tb, 0.03Eu phosphor with high thermal stability as the single matrix phosphor can be suitable for the NUV-pumped white LED. The white LED with a color rendering index of 86.5 and a correlated color temperature of 3470 K has been generated by packaging BAM:Eu with ScPO₄:0.03Tb, 0.03Eu on an NUV-InGaN chip.

Systematic Study of the Synthesis of Monodisperse CsPbI Perovskite Nanoplatelets for Efficient Color-Pure Light Emitting Diodes.

Metal halide perovskite nanoplatelets (NPls) possess ultra-narrow photoluminescence (PL) bands tunable over the entire visible spectral range, which makes them promising for utilization in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with spectrally pure emission colors. This calls for development of synthetic methods toward perovskite NPls with a high degree of control over both their thickness and lateral dimensions. A general strategy is developed to obtain such monodisperse CsPbI NPls through the control over the halide-to-lead ratio during heating-up reaction.

Controllable Nano-Crystallization in Fluoroborosilicate Glass Ceramics for Broadband Visible Photoluminescence.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

Sino-French Hoffmann Institute, School of Basic Medical Science, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou 511436, China.

A transparent fluoroborosilicate glass ceramic was designed for the controllable precipitation of fluoride nanocrystals and to greatly enhance the photoluminescence of active ions. Through the introduction of BO into fluorosilicate glass, the melting temperature was decreased from 1400 to 1050 °C, and the abnormal crystallization in the fabrication process of fluorosilicate glass was avoided. More importantly, the controlled crystallizations of KZnF and KYbF in fluoroborosilicate glass ceramics enhanced the emission of Mn and Mn-Yb dimers by 6.

High-quality two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D TMDs), such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS), have significant potential for advanced electrical and optoelectronic applications. This study introduces a novel approach to control the localized growth of MoS through the selective oxidation of bulk molybdenum patterns using Joule heating, followed by sulfurization. By passing an electric current through molybdenum patterns under ambient conditions, localized heating induced the formation of a molybdenum oxide layer, primarily MoO and MoO, depending on the applied power and heating duration.

We compare the optical properties of four diode samples differing by built-in field direction and width of the InGaN quantum well in the active layer: two diodes with standard layer sequences and 2.6 and 15 nm well widths and two diodes with inverted layer ordering (due to the tunnel junction grown before the structure) also with 2.6 and 15 nm widths.

Raman and Photoluminescence Studies of Quasiparticles in van der Waals Materials.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

January 2025

Hunan Key Laboratory of Super-Microstructure and Ultrafast Process, School of Physics, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China.

Two-dimensional (2D) layered materials have received much attention due to the unique properties stemming from their van der Waals (vdW) interactions, quantum confinement, and many-body interactions of quasi-particles, which drive their exotic optical and electronic properties, making them critical in many applications. Here, we review our past years' findings, focusing on many-body interactions in 2D layered materials, including phonon anharmonicity, electron-phonon coupling (), exciton dynamics, and phonon anisotropy based on temperature (polarization)-dependent Raman spectroscopy and Photoluminescence (PL). Our review sheds light on the role of quasi-particles in tuning the material properties, which could help optimize 2D materials for future applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices.
