Purpose Of Review: Approximately one in four children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) 'elope' or wander away from supervision each year; however, many caregivers do not receive adequate information on how to address wandering behavior. The purpose of this review is to summarize the available research on elopement frequency, wandering patterns, and interventions to provide pediatricians and other childcare professionals with appropriate strategies to address wandering behavior.
Recent Findings: Despite the high prevalence of wandering by children with ASD or other developmental disabilities, there is relatively limited research in this area. Recent research has identified common patterns and factors associated with risk of elopement and elopement frequency.
Summary: Pediatricians should counsel families on the common issues and intervention strategies related to elopement. By increasing awareness of wandering in children with ASD, caregivers can feel better prepared to make informed decisions regarding their child's wellbeing and safety.

Intelligent algorithms that are commonly used to obtain errors in the geometric parameters of industrial robots have a low accuracy, easily fall into the local optimal solution, and involve complicated coding such that they are unsuitable for use in engineering. In this study, we first apply the D-H method to establish a model of error in industrial robots, and then use the set of errors in their geometric parameters as the objective function. Following this, we improve the accuracy of global optimization of the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm by drawing on the wandering behavior of the wolf pack algorithm and hybridization behavior of the genetic algorithm.

Purpose: Pain is inherently salient and so draws our attention in addition to impacting performance on attention-demanding tasks. Individual variability in pain-attention interactions can be assessed by two kinds of behavioral phenotypes that quantify how individuals prioritize pain versus attentional needs. The intrinsic attention to pain (IAP) measure quantifies the degree to which a person attends to pain (high-IAP) or mind-wanders away from pain (low-IAP).

The default mode network (DMN) is intricately linked with processes such as self-referential thinking, episodic memory recall, goal-directed cognition, self-projection, and theory of mind. Over recent years, there has been a surge in examining its functional connectivity, particularly its relationship with frontoparietal networks (FPN) involved in top-down attention, executive function, and cognitive control. The fluidity in switching between these internal and external modes of processing-highlighted by anti-correlated functional connectivity-has been proposed as an indicator of cognitive health.

Knowledge of how animals respond to weather and changes in their physical environment is increasingly important, given the higher frequency of extreme weather recorded in recent years and its forecasted increase globally. Even species considered to be highly adapted to extremes of weather, as albatrosses are to strong winds, may be disadvantaged by shifts in those extremes. Tracked albatrosses were shown recently to avoid storms and the strongest associated winds.
