In this study, imidazolium-based ionic liquid with [tfN] as the anion was successfully grafted to magnetic polydopamine nanoparticles (MPDA). The prepared materials were well characterized and used as supports for lipase immobilization. The immobilized lipase (PPL-ILs-MPDA) exhibited excellent activity and stability. The specific activity of PPL-ILs-MPDA was 2.15 and 1.49 folds higher than that of free PPL and PPL-MPDA. In addition, after 10 rounds of reuse, the residual activity of PPL-ILs-MPDA was 86.2 % higher than that of PPL-MPDA (75.4 %). Furthermore, the kinetic assay indicated that the affinity between PPL-ILs-MPDA and substrate had increased. Analysis of the secondary structure using circular dichroism was used to explain the mechanism underlying the improvement in the performance of PPL-ILs-MPDA. In addition, the immobilized lipase can be easily separated from the reaction system with a magnet. The observations regarding the development of new supports for lipase immobilization may provide new ideas regarding further studies in this field.

Infectious bacteria pose an increasing threat to public health, and hospital-acquired bacterial infections remain a significant challenge for wound healing. In this study, we developed an advanced nanoplatform utilizing copper doped magnetic vortex nanoring coated with polydopamine (Cu-MVNp) based nanotherapeutics for bacterial infection tri-therapy. This multifunctional nanoplatform exhibits remarkable dual-stimulus thermogenic capabilities and Fenton-like peroxidase activity.

This study presents the development of a magnetic relaxation switching (MRS) immunosensor for the sensitive detection of chlorpyrifos (CPF) with a signal amplification strategy using Pd/Cu-TCPP(Fe) hybrid nanosheets and polydopamine (PDA). Pd/Cu-TCPP(Fe) nanosheets, which exhibit high peroxidase-like activity and excellent storage stability, making them suitable replacements for natural enzymes in biosensors, are further functionalized with goat anti-mouse IgG (Ab) to construct an immunosensor. The mechanism relies on the competition between free CPF and the immobilized bovine serum albumin-CPF conjugates for antibody binding, which modulates the aggregation of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) that are related to the transverse relaxation time.

Chemical amination of the enzyme was demonstrated to favor immobilization onto polydopamine (PDA)-coated magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) for the first time, to the best of the author's knowledge. MNPs prepared via hydrothermal synthesis were coated with PDA for the immobilization of naringinase. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy showed that the MNPs were composed mainly of FeO with an average size of 38.

Platanus officinalis fibers (PFs) taking advantage of high-availability, eco-friendly and low-cost characteristics have attracted significant focus in the field of biomaterial application. Polyethyleneimine grafted with polydopamine on magnetic Platanus officinalis fibers (PEI-PDA@M-PFs) were prepared through a two-step process of mussel inspiration and the Michael addition reaction, which can work as an effective multifunctional biomass adsorbent for anionic dye with outstanding separation capacity and efficiency. The as-prepared PEI-PDA@M-PFs possess desirable hydrophilicity, magnetism and positive charge, along with abundant amino functional groups on the surface, facilitating efficient adsorption and the removal of Eriochrome Black T (EBT) dyes from water.

This work aimed to develop a fluorescence/colorimetric sensor for the ultrasensitive detection of AFB1 based on the aptamers and molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs). The polydopamine on FeO (FeO@MIP) was used to achieve efficient separation of AFB1. The aptamer-modified carbon dots and metal-organic frameworks (Apt-CDs@MOF) were used to form sandwich particles (FeO@MIP-AFB1-Apt-CDs@MOF).
