A procedure is described for the purification of the aspartate:tRNA ligase from Escherichia coli to a stage where it was homogeneous by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. From the same batch of E. coli the lysine, phenylalanine and serine ligases were obtained in an apparently homogeneous form while the alanine, glutamine, leucine and valine enzymes had a purity varying from 20% to 80%. Aspartate: tRNA ligase, which has not been obtained in a highly purified form before, has been characterized in terms of its molecular parameters.

Over the past few decades, ocean hypoxia has been increasing due to human activities. Hypoxic stress, characterized by a reduced level of dissolved oxygen, is an escalating threat to marine ecosystems, with potentially devastating effects on the viability of endangered species such as the tri-spine horseshoe crab Tachypleus tridentatus. Even though this species is remarkably resilient to low oxygen levels, persistent hypoxia can negatively impact its population's survivability.

In Saudi Arabia, numerous plant species with promising medicinal properties are cultivated, widely traded, and commonly utilized in traditional medicine, including fenugreek (). This study aimed to comprehensively assess the phytochemical composition and antimicrobial potential of the Saudi cultivar of fenugreek using an integrative approach combining in vitro and in silico methodologies. A comprehensive investigation was conducted on the ethanol extract of fenugreek seeds, assessing its antibacterial, antifungal, properties.

Post-transcriptional modifications at the anticodon stem-loop of tRNAs are key to the translation function. Metabolic pathways to these modifications often incorporate complex enzymology. A notable example is the hypermodified nucleoside, queuosine, found at the wobble position of Asn, Asp, His, and Tyr encoding tRNAs.

Objective: Sevoflurane (Sevo), a commonly used inhalant anesthetic clinically, is associated with a worsened cancer prognosis, and we investigated its effect on RNA methylase tRNA aspartic acid methyltransferase 1 (TRDMT1) expression and ovarian cancer (OC) cell malignant phenotypes.
Methods: Human OC cells (OVCAR3/SKOV3) were pretreated with 3.6% Sevo and cultured under normal conditions for 48 h, with their viability assessed.

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) exhibit significant potential for water disinfection due to their generation of large quantities of highly oxidizing free radicals. However, the neglect of viable but nonculturable (VBNC) cells obscures their true disinfection efficacy and potential environmental health risks. Therefore, the study evaluated the disinfection effectiveness and mechanisms of typical AOPs, including Fe/HO, Fe/persulfate (PS), and O, from the perspective of the production of VBNC bacteria.
