Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) represents a significant postoperative complication after artificial femoral head replacement, with the incidence increasing proportionally with patient age. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of early postoperative use of intermittent pneumatic compression devices (IPC), followed by the combined use of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) after 48 hours, for the prevention of postoperative lower limb DVT in elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty. The retrospective study included 100 elderly patients who underwent unilateral femoral head replacement.

Plug and abandonment of offshore oil wells is a costly and time-consuming process, yet it is necessary for the ever-increasing number of mature fields in the region of the Danish North Sea, as well as globally. Current practices ensuring durable solutions for the complete zonal isolation of oil wells have a large environmental impact. This paper proposes a novel resin that could be mixed on the platform and pumped into the tubing in a liquid state.

: This study aimed to establish a predictive model for critical quality attributes (CQAs) related to tablet integrity, including tablet breaking force (TBF), friability, and capping occurrence, using machine learning-based models and nondestructive experimental data. : The machine learning-based models were trained on data to predict the CQAs of metformin HCl (MF)-containing tablets using a commercial-scale wet granulation process, and five models were each compared for regression and classification. We identified eight input variables associated with the process and material parameters that control the tableting outcome using feature importance analysis.

: Dispatcher-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DA-CPR) is widely recognized as a critical intervention that significantly reduces no-flow time, improving survival rates in out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs). This study evaluates current practices and the organization of DA-CPR in Italian emergency medical communication centers (EMCCs) and identifies areas for improvement. A cross-sectional survey was conducted between April and May 2024 among all Italian EMCCs, achieving a 92.

Mediastinal tumors, regardless of their location, can grow to significant sizes, causing compression-related symptoms. The term "giant" mediastinal tumor is inconsistently defined in the literature. This study presents a new clinical-radiological classification (CRC) for mediastinal tumors and evaluates its applicability through a systematic review and a detailed case analysis of a giant thymolipoma.
