Purpose: Research collaborations can help to increase scientific productivity. The purpose of the present study was to draw up the knowledge flow network of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute (EMRI) affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: The present study is a descriptive cross-sectional study on the publications of the EMRI. Web of Science Core collection databases were searched for the EMRI publications between 2002 to November 2019. Besides, publications were classified and visualized based on authorships (institutes and country of affiliation), and keywords (co-occurrence and trend). Scientometric methods including VOSviewer and HistCite were used for descriptive statistics and data analysis.
Results: Total citations to the records were 47,528 and papers were published in 916 journals. The annual growth rate of publications and the citation was 14.2% and 18.9%, respectively. A total of 9466 authors from 136 countries collaborated in the publications. The co-authorship patterns showed that the average co-authorship and collaboration coefficient was 3.3 and 0.19.
Conclusion: Knowledge flow between EMRI researchers with international collaborations, engagement with leading countries, and interdisciplinary collaborations have an increasing trend. To develop a full picture of co-authorship, using social network analysis indicators are suggested for future studies.

The Riverine Barrier Hypothesis posits that species distributions are limited by large rivers acting as geographical barriers. Accordingly, large rivers have long been thought to be a major driver of the extensive speciation and high levels of biodiversity among platyrrhine primates in South and Central America. Direct observations of river crossings provide evidence that complements studies of genetic diversity that can together shed new light on this hypothesis.

Total pharyngo-laryngo-esophagectomy (TPLE) with free jejunal transplantation (FJT) is the standard reconstructive procedure for hypopharyngeal cancer, typically utilizing the superior thyroid artery as the recipient vessel. However, patient-specific anatomical variations and comorbidities can significantly complicate this surgery. We present a unique case of a 68-year-old male with hypopharyngeal cancer who exhibited multiple challenges, including short stature (126 cm), low weight (35 kg), cervical spondylosis, and a history of vertebroplasty, highlighting the complexities inherent in such reconstructions.

An open-source geodatabase and its associate WebGIS platform (CONNECTOSED) were developed to collect and utilize data for the Sediment Flow Connectivity Index (SfCI) for the Apulia region of southern Italy. Maps depicting sediment mobility and connectivity across the hydrographic basins of the Apulia region were generated and stored in the geodatabase. This geodatabase is organized into folders containing data in TIFF, shapefile, Jpeg and Pdf formats, including input variables (digital elevation model, land cover map, rainfall map, and soil units dataset for each hydrographic basin), classification graphs (ranking of variable values), dimensionless index maps (slope, ruggedness, rainfall, land cover, and soil stability) and key products (maps of sediment mobility, SfCI, and applied SfCI).

Although the heart atria have a lesser functional importance than the ventricles, atria play an important role in the pathophysiology of heart failure and supraventricular arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation. In addition, knowledge of atrial morphology recently became more relevant as cardiac electrophysiology and interventional procedures in the atria gained an increasingly significant role in the clinical management of patients with heart disease. The atrial chambers are thin-walled, and several vessels enter at the level of the atria.
