Lung diseases are associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, thereby jeopardizing human health and imposing a great burden on society. Currently, lung diseases are mainly treated with medications, oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation, but these approaches are unable to effectively reduce the mortality rate. Therefore, lung transplantation remains the ultimate treatment for various chronic lung diseases, but this treatment is also hindered by the limited availability of lung sources, immature technology and a low survival rate after transplantation.

Objectives: The quality of prehospital resuscitation provided by emergency medical technicians (EMTs) is essential to ensure better outcomes following out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA). We assessed the quality of prehospital resuscitation by recording time to key prehospital interventions using EMT-worn video devices and investigated its association with outcomes of patients with OHCA.
Methods: This retrospective, cross-sectional study included cases of non-traumatic OHCA in adults treated by emergency medical services (EMS) in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, during 2022 and 2023.

Background: For every critically ill adult receiving invasive mechanical ventilation, clinicians must select a mode of ventilation. The mode of ventilation determines whether the ventilator directly controls the tidal volume or the inspiratory pressure. Newer hybrid modes allow clinicians to set a target tidal volume; the ventilator controls and adjusts the inspiratory pressure.

Background: The main pathological features of asthma are widespread chronic inflammation of the airways and restricted ventilation due to airway remodeling, which involves changes in a range of regulatory pathways. While the role of T helper type 2 (Th2)-related inflammatory factors in this process is known, the detailed understanding of how genes affect protein functions during airway remodeling is still lacking. This study aims to fill this knowledge gap by integrating gene expression data and protein function analysis, providing new scientific insights for a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of airway remodeling and for further development of asthma treatment strategies.
