A cost-effective long-path absorption liquid core waveguide (LCW) device was fabricated from a typical Teflon tube, and using a high refractive index (RI) medium of acid. It was incorporated in a flow injection-gas diffusion system for the sensitive determination of sulfide via methylene blue (MB) chemistry. The gas diffusion unit could prevent some interferences in samples. The limit of detection of 0.13 μmol L was achieved without using a preconcentration procedure. The proposed device was successfully applied for sulfide determination in canal water samples with 88.7 - 103% recovery.

Nanobiohybrids for solar-driven methanogenesis present a promising solution to the global energy crisis. However, conventional semiconductor-based nanobiohybrids face challenges such as limited tunability and poor biocompatibility, leading to undesirable spontaneous electron and proton transfer that compromise their structural stability and CH4 selectivity. Herein, we introduced eutectic gallium-indium alloys (EGaIn), featuring a self-limiting surface oxide layer surrounding the liquid metal core after sonication, integrated with Methanosarcina barkeri (M.

Catalyst design plays a critical role in ensuring sustainable and effective energy conversion. Electrocatalytic materials need to be able to control active sites and introduce defects in both acidic and alkaline electrolytes. Furthermore, producing efficient catalysts with a distinct surface structure advances our comprehension of the mechanism.

Background: Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) encompasses a spectrum of histological conditions ranging from simple steatosis to fibrosing steatohepatitis, and is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). While oxidised apolipoproteins A and B have been linked to obesity and CVD, the association between other oxidised apolipoproteins and MASLD is yet to be established. To fill this gap, we characterised the circulating serum peptidome of patients with MASLD.

Recovering the remaining oil after primary and secondary extraction methods poses a significant challenge. Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques, which involve injecting fluids into reservoirs, aim to increase recovery rates. Ionic liquids, known for their adaptability, are emerging as promising agents in EOR, improving oil displacement by reshaping fluid properties and interacting with reservoir rocks.

Core-shell structures demonstrate superior capability in customizing properties across multiple scales, offering valuable potential in catalysis, medicine, and performance materials. Integrating functional nanoparticles in a spatially controlled manner is particularly appealing for developing sophisticated architectures that support heterogeneous characteristics and tandem reactions. However, creating such complex structures with site-specific features remains challenging due to the dynamic microenvironment during the shell-forming process, which considerably impacts colloidal particle assembly.
