Biosimilars and generics have led to reduced cancer drug prices. The effect of biosimilar or generic drug competition on drug manufacturer revenue has not been previously described. In this study, the majority of top selling cancer drugs had a greater than 50 % decline in sales revenue within 2 years of generic or biosimilar market entry, reflecting both the decline in market share and reduction in unit drug price.

The use of wavefront shaping has found extensive application to develop ultra-thin endoscopic techniques based on multimode optical fibers (MMF), leveraging on the ability to control modal interference at the fiber's distal end. Although several techniques have been developed to achieve MMF-based laser-scanning imaging, the use of short laser pulses is still a challenging application. This is due to the intrinsic delay and temporal broadening introduced by the fiber itself, which requires additional compensation optics on the reference beam during the calibration procedure.

A loop-mediated isothermal amplification test for yaws: a multi-country diagnostic accuracy evaluation.

Lancet Glob Health

November 2024

Faculty of Infectious Diseases, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, London, UK; Hospital for Tropical Diseases, London, UK; Division of Infection and Immunity, University College London, London, UK.

Background: To meet the WHO target of eradicating yaws by 2030, highly sensitive and specific diagnostic tools are needed. A multiplex Treponema pallidum-Haemophilus ducreyi loop-mediated isothermal amplification (TPHD-LAMP) test holds promise as a near-patient diagnostic tool for yaws and H ducreyi. We conducted a prospective evaluation in Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and the Republic of the Congo to determine the diagnostic accuracy of the TPHD-LAMP test, as well as to assess its acceptability, feasibility, and cost.
