Peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) have primarily been used to achieve therapeutic gene modulation through antisense strategies since their design in the 1990s. However, the application of PNAs as a functional nanomaterial has been more recent. We recently reported that γ-modified peptide nucleic acids (γPNAs) could be used to enable formation of complex, self-assembling nanofibers in select polar aprotic organic solvent mixtures. Here we demonstrate that distinct γPNA strands, each with a high density of γ-modifications can form complex nanostructures at constant temperatures within 30 minutes. Additionally, we demonstrate DNA-assisted isothermal growth of γPNA nanofibers, thereby overcoming a key hurdle for future scale-up of applications related to nanofiber growth and micropatterning.

Purpose: The study evaluated the influence of titanium discs, coated with polyacrylonitrile infused curcumin nanofibers on osteoblast activity.
Materials And Methods: The titanium discs were coated with polyacrylonitrile nanofibers infused with curcumin. MG-63 cell lines were utilized for cell culture to assess osteoblast morphology upon exposure of curcumin on titanium discs.

Peptide-based self-assembled nanosystems show great promise as non-viral gene and siRNA delivery vectors. In the current study, we designed and functionalized nanofibers for the delivery of siRNA, targeting and silencing EGFR gene overexpressed in triple-negative breast cancer. The nanofiber-mediated siRNA delivery was characterized in terms of zeta potential, morphology, and structural stability by circular dichroism spectroscopy.

Most of the developed flexible hydrogel supercapacitors struggle to maintain their electrochemical stability and structural integrity under tensile strain. Therefore, developing a flexible supercapacitor with excellent mechanical properties and stable electrochemical performance under different strains remains a challenge. Based on the previous cartilage-like structure, we designed a new coarse nanofiber bundle and ordered network.

The development of flexible, intelligent, and lightweight optoelectronic devices based on flexible transparent conductive electrodes (FTCEs) utilizing silver nanowires (AgNWs) has garnered increasing attention. However, achieving low surface resistance, strong adhesion to the flexible substrate, low surface roughness, and green degradability remains a challenge. Here, a composite electrode combining natural polymer cellulose nanofibers (TCNFs) with AgNWs was prepared.

The application of cellulose nanofibers (CNF) as cryoprotectants in frozen foods has rarely been explored. In this study, the cryoprotective effect of CNF (2, 4 and 6 % w/w) on mechanically separated chicken meat (MSCM) surimi-like material was investigated, during frozen storage (5 and 60 days) under temperature fluctuation. Surimi-like without cryopreservation agents was more susceptible to protein oxidation due to ice recrystallization.
