Catheter dislocation with continuous peripheral nerve blocks represents a major problem in clinical settings. There is a range of factors affecting the incidence of catheter dislocation, including catheter type. This study aimed to assess the incidence of suture-method catheter (SMC) dislocation 24 h after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with continuous femoral nerve block (CFNB) and continuous femoral triangle block (CFTB), respectively. In the prospective randomized trial, 40 patients qualified for TKA with SMC and were divided into two groups, those who received CFNB (Group 1, = 20) and those who received CFTB (Group 2, = 20). After 24 h, the degree of catheter displacement (cm), pain intensity (NRS) and opioid consumption (mg) was assessed. The catheter dislocation rates were found to be 15% in Group 1 versus 5% in Group 2, with the catheter dislocated by 0.83 cm (SD = ±0.87) and 0.43 cm (SD = ±0.67), respectively. There were no differences in NRS score ( = 0.86) or opioid consumption ( = 0.16) between the groups. In each case, a displaced catheter was successfully repositioned by pulling, which clinically resulted in a lower NRS score. The results of the study suggest that CFTB with SMC may be used after TKA with a good effect, as it is associated with low catheter dislocation rates and an adequate analgesic effect.

Background: Medically intractable ascites causes substantial distress in patients with palliative disease. Tunneled peritoneal catheters have been established as a feasible treatment option allowing patient-controlled paracentesis in a homecare setting. However, while a range of complications is associated with these drainages, risk factors for complications have not been identified so far.

Background: To compare the performance of a new-generation cobalt-chromium balloon-expandable bare metal stent with a stainless steel platform for the treatment of iliac occlusive disease.

Methods: Consecutive patients treated for symptomatic iliac occlusive disease between 2014 and 2021 with the cobalt-chromium Dynetic-35 or the stainless steel Dynamic platform were retrospectively evaluated. Outcome measures included technical success, device- or procedure-related death, clinically-driven target lesion revascularization (CD-TLR), primary patency, and major index limb amputation up to 12 months.

Backround/objectives: We investigated a technique that facilitates the coiling of a regular straight catheter (with integral stylet) behind the sciatic nerve in an ultrasound (US) regional anaesthesia simulator, and then applied our findings to a series of orthopedic-trauma patients.

Methods: We conducted a randomized study of two methods of perineural catheter advancement in a sciatic nerve block Blue Phantom simulator. Two groups of twenty catheters each (method A and method B) were evaluated under real-time ultrasound imaging.

Dislocation and Snaring of an Aortic Bifurcation Stent During Transfemoral Aortic Valve Replacement-a Case Report.

Catheter Cardiovasc Interv

Department of Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Kepler University Hospital, Medical Faculty, Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria.

Transfemoral aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is an effective way to treat severe aortic valve stenosis, especially in patients who are high-risk for surgery. Dislocation of an endoluminal aortic bifurcation stent graft during TAVR is an extremely rare complication. We present a case on how management of this complication was successfully done.
